Kaleidoscope of Hearts [Taekook]
H.P.T³
The moonlight followed Taehyung all the way home, his laughter still lingering in the quiet streets. He felt light, almost glowing, after that midnight dance. To him, it was nothing—just a way to shake off the stress of schoolwork, to breathe freely where no one could see.
But as soon as he pushed open the grand mahogany doors of the Kim estate, the atmosphere changed.
His father, Kim Namjoon, was standing in the foyer, suit jacket still on though it was long past office hours. His mother, Kim Seokjin, stood beside him, worry written across her delicate features.
Taehyung froze mid-step, holding his bag awkwardly.
Kim Namjoon
Do you know what time it is?
Namjoon’s voice was low but stern.
Kim Namjoon
You promised to be home earlier.
Taehyung offered a sheepish smile.
Kim Taehyung
I know, Appa. I just had some university work… it took longer than I expected.
Seokjin sighed, moving forward to brush his son’s hair back affectionately.
Kim Seokjin
We are worried about you Tae, don't do this again.
Namjoon nodded, his brows furrowed.
Kim Namjoon
Next time, call the driver. Or at least message us. Don’t make us worry like this.
Taehyung’s heart warmed despite the scolding.
Kim Taehyung
Okay appa, I will be careful.
From the staircase, another voice cut in—sharp, tinged with bitterness.
Kim Jennie
Of course you will.
Kim Jennie muttered, leaning against the railing with crossed arms. Her expression was twisted in thinly veiled disgust.
Kim Jennie
Because heaven forbid our precious omega prince gets into trouble. If it were me, you wouldn’t even notice I was late.
Seokjin’s voice carried a warning, but his daughter only rolled her eyes dramatically.
Kim Jennie
It’s true, though.
She said, her gaze flickering to her brother.
Kim Jennie
You coddle him like glass. Just because he’s an omega.
Taehyung shifted uncomfortably, guilt prickling beneath his skin. He never asked for the extra care, yet it always seemed to create cracks in his relationship with his sister.
Namjoon’s voice hardened.
Kim Namjoon
Enough. Taehyung is younger, and it’s our duty to protect him.
Jennie’s lips curled into a smirk.
Kim Jennie
No, Father. It’s your duty to play favorites. Don’t worry. I’m used to it.
With that, she stormed upstairs, leaving a tense silence behind.
Namjoon placed a hand on his son’s shoulder.
Kim Namjoon
Go rest, Taehyung. Tomorrow’s another long day. Just… no more late nights, alright?
Taehyung nodded obediently, managing a small smirk before heading upstairs to his room.
He didn’t know, as he curled beneath his blankets, that somewhere else in the city, Jeon Jungkook was already plotting ways to claim him.
