Married to My Ruthless Professor
The Unexpected Meeting
Married to My Ruthless Professor
Ruat rushed into the university corridor, her heart pounding like crazy. She had barely had a chance to breathe before the reality hit her like a slap in the face.
ruat(fl)
No… it can’t be… him!”
Her eyes widened as they landed on the man sitting calmly in the chair across from the empty cabin. Shafayat Imtiaz. The professor she feared more than anyone in the whole university. The same professor who could make a grown man tremble with just a glare… and yet, he was now sitting right here, waiting for her.
Her mind raced. She knew her father had arranged her marriage with someone named Nowash. How did Shafayat appear here instead? Her fingers fumbled with the strap of her bag, betraying her panic.
ruat(fl)
Okay, stay calm… just go sit, just… act normal.”
She quickly glanced at the cabin number—yes, it was the same cabin her mother had told her Nowash would be waiting in. Empty, waiting. And then… someone pulled a chair right next to hers. She froze.
ruat(fl)
Oh no… oh no… please don’t turn around…”
But it was too late. Shafayat’s dark hair and sharp features came into her line of vision. He hadn’t looked at her yet, but she could feel the weight of his presence pressing down on her chest.
shafayat(ml)
Sorry… I’m late…”
He straightened up, raising his chin, but somehow, the words never left his mouth. Their eyes met. And in that instant, the world around her seemed to stop.
Ruat quickly looked away, feeling her cheeks burn. Her throat felt dry, and her mind scrambled for words that wouldn’t come.
ruat(fl)
Okay… just breathe… it’s just him… it’s just…”
Her inner thoughts were a mix of terror and frustration. She had always known Shafayat was strict, almost ruthlessly so. He could snap at students for the tiniest mistakes in accounting. She remembered the last time she had struggled with a homework problem—he had scolded her in front of the whole class and piled extra exercises on her desk.
And now… she was supposed to marry this man?
Shafayat’s gaze flicked toward her briefly, a spark of surprise crossing his face as he noticed her. But it quickly vanished, replaced by his usual stern look.
shafayat(ml)
You’re… Kabir uncle’s daughter?”
Shafayat frowned. Was it irritation? Confusion? She couldn’t tell.
shafayat(ml)
Did you know your marriage was arranged… with me?”
ruat(fl)
“No! Absolutely not! I would… I would never have come if I knew it was… you!”
Her words tumbled out faster than she could control, spilling her panic, fear, and outrage. She immediately wished she could swallow them back.
Shafayat’s brow furrowed. Was she daring to speak like this? Or was she just terrified?
Ruat glanced around, desperate for some escape, but the corridor stretched endlessly in both directions. How was she supposed to face this man again?
shafayat(ml)
Then… go home. Tell your father you don’t want this marriage. I won’t stop you.”
Ruat froze. Did he just… give her a choice?
ruat(fl)
“I… I can’t… I mean… I… I don’t know what to say…”
Shafayat got up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor, and left without another word, leaving Ruat staring after him, mouth agape, heart still racing. She wanted to scream at him, scold him, even slap him—but she couldn’t. He had vanished before she could even process what had happened.
ruat(fl)
Unbelievable… absolutely unbelievable…”
Her hands shook as she flagged down a waiter, ordering a Coke, desperately trying to calm her nerves. She sipped the cold drink slowly, letting the fizz distract her from her pounding heart.
ruat(fl)
Why… why him? Why now? Why this?”
After paying her bill, she stepped out of the restaurant and hailed a rickshaw, her mind still spinning. She had to go home. And she had to think… about what she was supposed to say. Her mother had warned her not to say a word against her father’s choice. But how could she explain this?
Meanwhile, somewhere across town…
Shafayat walked into his apartment, running a hand over his face, his anger barely contained. How could she be Kabir uncle’s daughter… and his student at that? He would never have agreed to this marriage if he’d known!
He sank into his chair, running through all the possibilities. His mother’s gentle but firm voice echoed in his memory: “You must do what’s right, my son.”
But what was right? To marry a student? To defy his mother? To keep his reputation intact?
Ruat and Shafayat, two worlds colliding unexpectedly, leaving a trail of tension neither of them was ready to face…
