The Quest of the Underworld! The Beginning

The Quest of the Underworld! The Beginning

Book 1 / Chapter 1: The uninformed team members!

On a dark and foggy night, there was a boy standing on the deck with a bag to his feet. When there was a mysterious loud honking sound from the north-east that caught the boy's attention. But after a couple of minutes, the boy saw a medium-sized wooden boat with big white sales that looked like it just survived a tornado a couple of hours ago and had the words "The Whirlpool" engraved in the wood that was almost invisible through the fog. Then the boy reaches into his bag and takes out a piece of paper and reads,

"Transport: by boat (The Whirlpool)." He refolds the page and waits for the boat to park at the deck. And once again a few minutes had passed, when he heard the sound of wood hitting wood as a tall figure placed a long board onto the dock. Then as the figure descended the ramp, he saw that the figure was a bearded man in his 50s that gave him captain vibes.

And as the man walked towards the little boy, he said in his most friendly voice.

"Hey little Halfling, what are you doing out here on your own?"

The Halfling looked at him with an offended expression and replied to him with a firm tone. " You must be Captain Ben!"

"Oh, I'm so sorry Kayl for the misunderstanding!" Said Captain Ben as he realised the mistake that he made. When Kayl gave him the piece of paper that he was holding and aboard the ship. As the captain followed him, he added.

"Make sure to greet your teammates when you enter the sleeping quarters. They were really excited to meet you." Suddenly, Kayl stops in his tracks and turns to face him with a confused expression.

"What teammates?" He Asked the captain.

"Didn't they tell you that in your mission letter!?" responded captain Ben. And in response he nodded his head in disagreement.

"Here I'll intro douche you to them." Said the captain as he leads Kayl to the sleeping quarters. The sleeping quarters were a tiny room on the bottom floor of the ship with 2 bunk beds and a bed completely empty, except for the multiple bags and suitcases on the floor. And as Kayl pointed this out to the captain. As he looked genuinely confused and worried.

So he said.

"They might have woken up when they heard the honk from earlier and hid somewhere. So you go and find them will I steer you all to your destination." Then he went to do just that.

Kayl looked around the entire ship for his imaginary teammates. He checked the sleeping quarters, the kitchen, the bathroom and the sails to see if they might have found a way to climb it. But unfortunately, he had no luck. So he decided to take a break in the kitchen before continuing his search. When suddenly, he heard a low and menacing moan that he knew too well. There was an undead on the ship. He reached for his side to grab his dagger to defend himself when he realised that it was still in his bag. Then the lights went out. Followed by the sound of combat and spells getting cast. The fight lasted a couple of minutes before it stopped and the lights came back on. And standing with the defeated undead were 4 people. A Wood Elf, a High Elf, a Dwarf and a human. When suddenly, Kayl's vision went blurry and then he fainted.
