Episode 1

FENG POV:

“Feng. Feng. Feng!!”

Removing my headphones from my ears, I had noticed the sound of my mother's voice calling. I walked downstairs to find she and my father sitting in the living room. I knew where this was going. Lately, they have been acting super nice towards me, so I knew they were warming me up for this conversation.

“Yes,” I responded.

Mother: “Son, you know how they say opposites attract, well sometimes things that are too different can’t be together. You know like putting meatballs in your cereal, will taste nasty.”

She was rambling, I just started at her indifferently.

Mother: “Son, your father and I are getting a divorce?”

Father: “Yeah, so choose who you wanna live with?”

Choose? You want me to choose? This was clearly a trick question? If I chose my mother, my father would disagree that my mother couldn’t teach me how to be a ‘man.’ But, if I chose my father, I knew my mother would be heartbroken, and guilt trip me saying that she is the one whom had birthed me. So, being the logical one and not wanted to deal with this situation any longer, I replied, “neither.”

They looked at me in disbelief.

Mother asked, “Feng what are you talking about?”

“Well, no matter who I chose, someone will be angry, so I decided I should go to boarding school,” I said.

Mother stated, “but it’s the middle of the school year!”

Father exclaimed, “boarding school? Do you understand how much that will cost?”

“Yes, I do and cost is not a problem, they have some scholarship earning opportunities going on right now. I’ve already taken some tests and filled out the applications,” I responded.

“How long have you known,” asked Mother.

“When you both started cheating,” I said and walked out of the living room and back upstairs to my room.

I’ve always thought this would happen, of course, like a normal person, I hoped it wouldn’t happen to my family. But you can’t change the inevitable, because if ‘love’ can change so quickly, did it even exist in the first place.

Gratefully, I had no social life and studied all the time, because I received a full scholarship to the expensive co-ed boarding school Z academy. It was just my luck, that they had another spot. Leaving so far had no affect on me, it’s not like I would be missed. I was always alone and had no friends in school. Also, I didn’t understand why my parents would care, they were to busy with their secret love lives that they didn’t pay me much attention. Maybe meeting some people at my intellectual level, would help me make me more social.

Walking through the gates, I could see large luxurious buildings, and it only made me feel smaller inside. Grabbing my luggage, I found my way to the administration office. Thankfully, it was quite easy to find, since everyone was inside. Walking up to the front desk, an older woman with a brown haired bun asked me, “can I help you?”
