A gentle knock, knock echoed against a door upstairs.

She left, and Taehyung sat up, looking around his room with a faint, childlike daze. Pulling the blanket off, he padded toward the washroom.
Facing the mirror, he splashed water on his face and whispered to his reflection with a little smile,

Like a baby cub bounding down the stairs, Taehyung ran into the living room — where his mother sat, her posture poised and perfect.

The joy in Taehyung’s face dimmed instantly. This wasn’t unusual — no matter how hard he tried, her voice always carried that frost when it came to him. Still, he stepped in front of her, obediently.
Her sharp gaze swept over him.
Inwardly, Jin thought, Soon… he’ll turn eighteen. His beauty will become impossible to hide. The world will know he’s not just any Omega — but a rare one.

*Taehyung forced a little smile* Okay, Mama.
In the kitchen, the lady servant greeted him kindly.

It’s alright, dear. I’ve already prepared the coffee. Take it to him — you’re not late yet.

Taehyung’s smile softened. “Thank you, Aunt.”
With the coffee in hand, he made his way to Vincent’s room.

He opened the door.
The room was dim, only a thin beam of sunlight slipping through half-closed curtains. On the bed, a shirtless figure lay on his stomach, face buried in the pillow, broad back rising and falling with slow breaths.

Taehyung set the coffee down on the nightstand.
“Hyung, good morning. Your coffee’s here.”

Without warning, Vincent’s hand shot up, gripping Taehyung’s wrist harshly and shoving it away

Taehyung stood there, frozen. His vision blurred as tears filled his eyes. No matter how much he wished for kindness from Vincent — the one he secretly wanted to love him — all he ever got was coldness.
The silence broke again with Vincent’s sharp voice.

Stop standing there staring at me. Get out of my room.

*Taehyung quickly wiped his tears and forced a tiny smile* “Okay, Hyung. Breakfast is ready too…”
Without finishing, he turned and left the room quietly.
