Mr Jeon's Husband Is A Superstar
Reborn?
It felt like he was walking for an eternity through a dark and desolate tunnel. He wanted to stop, but for some reason he kept on walking towards the small speck of light far away in the distance.
His throat felt dry and rough, burning with extreme thirst.
He needed water. Maybe he could drink when he reached the end of the tunnel.
And so he kept on walking and walking and walking.
Water. The thought of water relieving his parched throat kept him going.
He didn't know how long he walked. Days, months, years…maybe even decades, perhaps even centuries.
He didn't know. He just wanted water.
Finally, the light grew larger and brighter.
Then he was bathed in pure, white light.
At a big, private hospital.
He opened his eyes and felt almost blinded by a soft, dim light. It took a few moments before his eyes adjusted.
Confused, he looked around the tasteful, hotel-like room. He didn't recognize the place. Then he noticed the sound of slow, constant beeping beside him. He turned his head towards the sound and was surprised that his head felt heavy. In fact, his entire body felt heavy. He couldn't move.
With great effort, he finally turned his head a little and saw that it was a machine making the beeping noise. He then realized that he was hooked to it and a lot of other medical apparatuses as well. It dawned on him that he was at a hospital and by the looks of it, his condition was rather serious.
He tried speaking but only a dry whisper came out of his cracked lips.
Nobody was around. He already felt exhausted. His eyes started to droop, but he fought against the unconsciousness threatening to overcome him.
After waiting for who knew how long, the door finally opened and a nurse strode in.
Someone
Nurse: "You're awake!"
The nurse was shocked when she saw the patient's open eyes. She immediately pressed a button to call for a doctor.
Someone
Nurse: "How are you feeling?"
The nurse asked and began checking him.
Fortunately, the nurse understood him.
Someone
Nurse: "You want to drink water? Wait a moment, Mister. We'll have to wait for the doctor and ask him whether it's okay for you to drink. Oh, he's here!"
The door opened and a middle-aged doctor entered followed by three others wearing the same white lab coats. They looked like doctors too, but younger.
Someone
Doctor: "Hello. Can you hear me? My name is Dr. Ching. How are you feeling?"
The lead doctor pressed his stethoscope on several parts of his chest as he asked questions.
Someone
Nurse: "He asked for water,"
Someone
Doctor: "That's good. Let him drink via straw if he's able. If not, use drops or melt an ice cube on his lips."
The team of doctors began examining him, while the nurse left to get water.
Finally, the nurse returned with water in a papercup and a straw.
At first, he couldn't suck from the straw. His mouth muscles felt weak. Only after a few tries was he able to get the water flowing but felt exhausted after just a few sips.
However, the feeling of water flowing down his dry throat felt so heavenly that his eyes pricked. He blinked the tears away, not allowing them to fall. It was almost unbelievable that he was getting so emotional over a few sips of water.
Someone
Doctor: "Do you know your name?"
He was about to say his name, but memories suddenly rushed in his mind.
He gasped, utterly confused by these foreign memories. What was happening?
He looked sideways and saw locks of black hair from his head on the pillow.
Black hair? Where was his blonde hair? Did someone colour his hair while he was unconscious?
His heart palpitated as an impossible thought entered his mind with the onslaught of the unknown memories.
The doctors were alarmed at the sudden spike of his heart rate. The beeping frequency on the machine increased.
The doctors and the nurse looked at each other.
Dr. Ching faced the boy with a reassuring expression and said,
Someone
Doctor: "Calm down. Are you tired? Are you feeling pain anywhere?"
Dr. Ching hesitated and looked at his patient for a few more seconds before nodding at the nurse. The nurse left. When she returned, she brought a mirror and held it in front of the pale boy lying on the bed.
When the boy saw his face, his eyes didn't recognize it. Where was his blonde hair? His green eyes? The face in front of him was clearly not his own.
The wavy, black hair and the dark brown phoenix eyes gave away the face's Asian background.
The machine hooked to him beeped more quickly, worrying the doctors. The nurse took the mirror away as the pale boy closed his eyes to digest what he just experienced.
The face of a stranger on the mirror matched the ones from the rush of memories he experienced just a few moments ago. He opened his eyes in disbelief.
???
'Impossible! This can't be. Am I dreaming?'
Unbelievable. But how could he explain what was happening to him now?
He woke up in another person's body.
The shock was too much, especially since he felt so weak at the moment.
His eyes closed and he succumbed to the familiar darkness.
