Sayōnara

Kai's P.O.V:

This girl. Seriously. What the hell does she think - I won't know ?! That I wouldn't find out what she was planning?! Ugh.

After reading her open notebook, I was so glad I had stayed up instead of sleeping. Though my head hurts, her health is obviously my too priority. I mean, come on, she's my heart. A human can't live without their heart, and I'm afraid, my heart is about to kill herself. Not that I can blame her. The world is too cruel. The pressure can be too burdening. Not everyone is strong to live it through. Right now, I have to go to the one and only place she'd most likely go to for...it. The river.

I ran, and ran, and ran. I was panting and my lungs were burning. My heart felt strange, like something inside of it was lost. In fact, it felt like a whole chunk of it was missing. I clutched at my chest and kept running. My legs were about to collapse, but I knew I couldn't give up. Giving up would mean being too late. That it was too late to... save her. I shook my head at the thought and pushed it away. I kept running.

I reached the river, I mean, the bridge thingy which is above the river. I could see a trail of red floating upwards. I just prayed I wasn't too late and climbed on the railing and jumped in.

It was bizarrely cold. I bet if Kei were right next to me right now she'd have said, "But it's summer ". Oh wait. I shook my head, removing irrelevant thoughts and swimming into the depths of the river to save my darling.

I saw a limp body fading into the dark depths of the river. Found you. I grinned. My tears were probably mixing in with the water surrounding me. I didn't know how long I actually held my breath, but it must've been long enough to make my lungs burn more than ever. Even more than when I was running. I scooped her body into my left arm and swam upwards.

I sat down onto the ground and panted for some time. I felt my heart burning with the sudden rush of air into my lungs. After regaining my strength, I gave her CPR. Looks like reading the end of Bio textbooks sure are informational.

I sat back and watched life rushing back into her pale cheeks. I quickly called up the ambulance.

---------------------------

We arrived at the hospital. They took her inside one of the rooms for a quick check up and MRI. As I sat outside, there was only one thought swirling in my head. You promised to never leave me and marry me, you can't give up; not now, not ever. As if my wishes had magically been answered, I heard Kei's voice from beside me. As I closed my eyes, I heard her soft voice slowly describing all the words I had been longing to tell her after she woke up in one word itself - forever. I repeated after her. Forever. She hugged me, and I knew I got my darling back.

-------------------------

"But babe!"

"You know this can't go on. You knew this would happen someday. Why are you so surprised then?"

"I-"

Kei shushed Kai by pulling him into a long, deep kiss. As she pulled back, Kai could see the tears forming in the corners of her eyes. Kai felt the same happen to him.

Kei had to be enrolled into a mental hospital for better help. Kai couldn't bear to part with his darling, even though he knew they could meet in between.

"I'm sorry, baby. I never wanted this to happen. I just-"

Kai wiped the tears from her eyes while cutting her off.

"I know, babe. It's okay. I never blamed you. Though I don't completely understand, I can still understand some bits. I'll never blame you, and you can trust me to not blame myself because we both know this couldn't have been helped."

Kei gave him a long hug before she left with a few nurses by her side. Kai gave Kei a last glance and left with a heavy heart.

Sayōnara, was the only word they couldn't bear to say out loud.

A/N: I hope that as much as I have enjoyed writing this book, you all have enjoyed reading it. I'm kind of sad that this is coming to an end too. Baibai~
