I'd been browsing books about our histoty but none of it tells anything about the times we really get along with vampires. Is that some kind of imagination?

Wait, Alpha Kaia? I remember that name but none of the books about us had something to do with a reigning alpha named Kaia.

Conor shot up with the mention of that name and the next thing i knew, he was howling as the great pain shot us, making both of us curl into ball. Every inch of my skin burn blocking my lungs to take in more oxygen. As silhouette flashed before my eyes. I couldn't make out anything neither i could think straight, not with this pain that making me unable.

"A-Arkyn" the only thing my lips could muster before i was out.

"What hapened to him?" My mom asked. Every words intertwined with worries.

"Full moon's aproaching and the alpha still didn't completed the mating ritual yet that's why he was undergoing this. Furthermore, he being away from his mate is making it a lot worse."

I could taste the consequences right on my tongue but i just couldn't just jump to Arkyn, mate him then go to my pack and say 'hey! my mate is the vampire king, hope ya'll ok with that' of course i can but maybe if we're in a completely different situation like i am just an ordinary pack member or vice versa though since we're both in higher ranks, it is much complicated. Much difficult.

"Conrad!"

My mom's voice had me jumping right to where i am laying.

"i know you're awake. Stop pretending, it isn't funny now that you are older"

Damn Mom instincts! I opened my eyes only to meet her defeated gaze. Layers of bags was lying beneath her eyes as she looked totally drained. I literally felt sorry for her and all the troubles i added to her stress.

"Mom I---"

"Con, you're doing a great job of being an alpha." she muttered as she cut me off.

I was too bewildered for the sudden turn of her words. Isn't she gonna bombared me about doing this to myself, make me feel guilty or pressure me about completing the mating ritual? She was suddenly different. Her face became softer as her turns better. The bags under her eyes disappeared and she smiled at me, warmly.

"My son, you've been great, i'm so proud of you"

My eyes filled with tears. I know from this moment that she isn't my mother yet instead of baring my fangs when she caress me, i snuggle closer to her. She was comfort- her arms was similar to a cradle of home.

"so it is time to do something for yourself. This is the second chance you and Arkyn asked, i hope you would not put it to waste."

As i open my eyes again, i am alone. Well, not really alone cause when i look at the figure near my window, i knew absolutely well that he is here.

My heart jumped tenfolds when those pair of beautiful purple eyes came closer to me. His pale skin glow in the moonlight as he move around my dark room. Conor was up all excited and giddy particularly when Arkyn brush his thumb on my lips.

"know what? I am torn into the idea of kissing you or taking you right now just to wake you up." his voice trailed with worry. "isn't that's how story goes?"

He brush his lips on mine as a blush made it's way from my neck up to my face.

"But seriously Con, i was so scared to death when you're out and didn't wake up for several hours." he confessed as he rested his face on my neck. "thought i'd lost you again"

Again? Second chance? As the memory of talking to that woman flashed, i knew i had to act now.

"Arkyn, who's Kaia?"

Arkyn froze that i could feel how intense he was right now. So? Kaia really exist? Did i had something to do with him? and why do i felt like i also knew him somehow? If he do exist, there has a missing story on our history then?

"Arkyn?"

"The sorceres are back" he muttered and i swear Conor growled with that.

"And?" impatientness was now lacing on my words. I was so giddy to know it, of course my pack was on great danger because of them.

"you let me help you and your pack, please" his tone begging and filled with worries. "Conrad i am your mate, trust me. I will help you protect each and every member of your pack and you, just let me"

My heart beat so loud and seems a bass drum on my ears. This very moment i had decided, i wanted to mate him. We're not a mistake.
