CHAPTER 12:

Conor was silent the whole time after the incident and even me, i couldn't find myself settling after that. Hues of blue was now spreading across the firmament when Arkyn came back. I could say that he was now back to his usual self well less the clingy side of him.

"i wanted to take a run" i fin'lly announce that caught his attention. "come with me?" i offered, stretching my arms. When he took it, i immediately pulled him outside his window and practically jump outside, me landing on my paws and Arkyn on my back.

He threw ample of curses but manage to hug on my fur nonetheless. Riding a wolf is surely a very strange thing for him but at least i manage to brush off some heavy atmosphere. When we reach the heart of the forest, he climbed down and lay down on the grass.

"you're so stupid most of the time!" he spat.

I just give him a few snort and grin before droping right beside of him.

"but, you're beautiful too" he manage, reaching to scratch my ebony dark coat. And that's when i hear Conor pearked and hummed blissfully with our mate's touch.

The moon was staring right at us this time, i hope the Moon Goddess too. I wish she prove me wrong that pairing me to Arkyn wasn't a mistake cause we are really made for each other.

"why silent suddenly?" he asked, still playing with my fur.

Some bone cracking and i am now back to my human form. Amusement was written on his face as if he was a little child having the first glimpse on nature.

"Arkyn, i just wanted to ask" i finlly announce. I could feel him become uneasy and that's my cue not to ask anything about the incident earlier. "how is it to live for a thousand years?" i immediately change my question.

"just normal. Living cause i'm not dead yet." he answered casually. "But sad because i am forced to witness and experience a lot of horrible things" his eyes stared at nowhere as he hug me closer to his body.

I can't imagine that kind of life. Maybe if i were him, i'd already given up so long ago.

"Now that you're here again, i can now continue living like i used to before" his whispered brought puzzles on my mind yet instead of asking, i'd just zip my mouth and enjoy his comforting coldness.

'kaia?'

'kaia!'

I open my eyes to see Arkyn's worried face. His tears was forming on the brink, his whole face was torn.

'Kaia, my love'

Afore i had to stretch my arms to caress his face, i was snatched away by Gab. He was tugging on our mind link with so much urgency. Without further ado, i shot up from the bed- shifted in my wolf form and jump outside the window. My pack needs me now and i can't let them down this time in exchange for unrealistic dream. For Arkyn.

My heart clenched in the idea of leaving our mate behind, yet i swallow it like a lump on my throat. I could even feel Conor clawing at the back of my mind- he wanted our mate and i wanted him too. But i sure know that the fantasy of leaving our pack behind is beyond impossible.

Rogues created huge chaos as they attack not only our pack but other packs nearby. I couldn't even count on my fingers how many of my pack members laid on the boundery- lifeless and how many are wounded.

With a loud howl, anger engulf me as the blood lust took over and all i could see was red.
