Chapter 4:

I don't know how long I'm out but when I woke up, I'm already settled in between my covers, comfortable and surprisingly sated. Even Conor who's been grumpy lately seems so tamed like someone had thrown him his favorite piece of meat and i swear, i could feel the euphoria-like feeling that's been radiating from him.

"My alpha, you're awake now"

My eyes dilated as soon as I heard that voice. It wasn't a threat but my guts screamed for help. How could he manage to sneak up to my room? And how does everyone in the pack house not screaming and fussing about the vampire on their alpha's bedroom? I didn't move an inch as i stared at the ceiling, confused. So much things are running inside my brain but all i hear was a soft snores from my wolf that indicated how he doesn't care about all the predicaments that are happening right now.

"Done pondering about life?" he asked as he took a sit on my bed.

"what are you doing here?" i asked in a much calmer voice.

"wow, no growling and baring of fangs? That's new" his cheerful voice woken up the beast inside me, now trying again to come out. He wanted to ravish our mate until he was a mess. "Simple" he continued. "Do you know, when you passed out i suddenly have the urge to get you, take care of you and fucking kill anyone who dares to touch you? Such a weird feelings eh? But the strange pull towards you was strong- so strong that i'm ready to massacre your whole pack if they wouldn't allow me to stay by your side." the whole time Arkyn was telling me this, he was staring right into my eyes.

Goosebumps crawl unto my skin. Not because of his words but by the way he spat each words with such seriousness. Arkyn's eyes turns red and purple alternatively and it was the most beautiful thing on my sight. He leaned closer to my face, until our lips were just one cold breath away from touching.

"Enlighten me alpha, what was happening to me? Why am i so addicted to you?"

I was almost suffocated by his cold breath touching my face and i don't know how long i could stand this teasing game he was playing. My mind was screaming to just give in but the other small rational part was giving me thousands reasons not to.

A knock had snapped us out to anything that might happen next, well it's not like i'm expecting for something to happen but my beta was indeed a bell that saved me before i stumble down or throw a white flag to accept defeat. Arkyn hissed but manage to calm down anyway.

"King Arkyn, it was so nice of you to take good care of me, i greatly appreciate it but my pack was in high capability in taking good care of each of our members so worrying won't be much of a necessity from you. But since we've caused you a lot of troubles, may i walk you down the dining area therefore you could have a meal before you depart?" i tried to sound more in character but Conor was breaking it off. A huff of disagreement escaped my lips before my last word and i saw Arkyn caught it.

"Gabriel, go to my mother and tell her to prepare her specialty." with a slight nod, gabriel immediately complied and left. Confusion was never leaving his eyes but doesn't question me anyway. That's what i like most about Gab, he will never force to squeeze out info unless you wanted to tell him yourself. Even we're best friend since young, he never dare to cross between our line of privacy.

I was about to follow my beta when a strong force suddenly slam unto mine causing me to stumble on the ground. But i don't feel threatened at all. Arkyn's eyes wasn't patient anymore nor it was filled with playfulness, he's furious and demanding.

"Tell me alpha before i lose control"

In that very moment, i feel fear, not because he was angry but because of all the consequences of my next action. Before i knew it, our lips we're connected like we're a piece of each other that fin'lly became whole. All i could hear was the loud thumping of my heart as if every pigment of me was beating only for him that all i was able to do is clung my arms around his neck because i need him close to me or else i'll die.

"Mate"

My mind was clouded and when i fin'lly found my way out, i was jumping outside my window. All my clothes we're torn into pieces as i ran across the meadow in all fours. This is wrong. I couldn't imagine how my pack would react to this especially since we're having lots of issues right now.

'comeback! Mate mate mate!'

'no conor. please understand'

Suddenly, i felt agonizing heat all over me and an overwhelming pain forcing me to comeback on my human body. Every inch of me hurt as i feel Conor stumble down, curling himself as i am. Breath came to short gasps blurring my vision in lack of oxygen. Repelling the bond was too much to take, at the same time, the urge to mark my mate and be with him was ascending too fast as if it was drowning me. I'm drowning in pain.

Burning ray of midday had awoken me. Surprisingly, it was way too comfortable to my nakedness. As i got home, everyone has this weird expression on their faces, following me with their burning stares. Something at the back of my mind was urging me to snarl at them but i just brushed it off. I'm way far tired right now to do that.

"Conrad"

I heard my mom's voice called followed by gentle knocks on my door afore it creaked open. Her eyes held something i couldn't point out but what catch me red-handed was when she dropped on her knees and cried.

"how long have you been warding it off?" she inquired between sobs.

"w-what?" i choked. "what are you talking about mom?"

"Conor, everyone with two eyes could be able to see it. You've been suffering. Why are you doing this to yourself?" she cried harder, resting her once youthful face on both of my palms. "you're killing both of you"
