Aurelien wakes up groggy in a moss-lit cavern. The air smells faintly of sulfur and herbs. Shadows flicker along stone walls. A distant flame crackles.

*groans* Where... am I? Did I just get reborn in a dungeon?
Ruvetha Seraphin [Witch]
You speak too much for someone who nearly got skewered.
Aurelien jolts. His eyes snap toward the figure sitting calmly by the fire — a women with long deep black hair and cold violet eyes.
Aurelien Rayes
THE WITCH! You're the witch! The burning one! The fire, the village—!
Ruvetha Seraphin [Witch]
Observant. Unfortunately.
Aurelien Rayes
Wait—am I dead?!
Ruvetha Seraphin [Witch]
No. I would not waste magic on the dead.
Aurelien Rayes
You—you did this?! You kidnapped me?! Lady, I was minding my own business doing "totally legal" black magic and now I'm in a horrer novel?!

You tore open a rift just when I was casting a powerful summoning spell. You interfered.

I was just screwing around with my friends! I didn't even think it would work!

Scene ends with Aurelian wipping his fake tears with handkerchief and praying goodbye to his mom-dad while Rue casually conjures a dagger made of black fire and stabs it into the wall — forming a glowing protective sigil.
