The Sin

This was the time when hostility between the Beom and humans was at its peak. A young, strong, and handsome man was out hunting in the forest when he saw the Princess of Beom, sitting by the river. She was so beautiful that he couldn’t take his eyes off her. From that day on, he returned to the forest every day, just to catch a glimpse of her. One day, the princess noticed him. The handsome human fascinated her too. Slowly, they fell in love and began meeting in secret. One night, lost in each other, they became one. By the time the King of Beom discovered their forbidden love, it was too late — the couple had already fled. The princess was pregnant. The Beom chased them... but they escaped.
The forest was alive with shadows, shifting and twisting under the pale glow of the crescent moon. The trees stretched high like skeletal fingers, whispering in the night breeze, their rustling leaves unable to drown out the pounding footsteps tearing through the undergrowth. A man ran, his breaths harsh and uneven, his hands gripping the wrists of two women who struggled to keep up. Their feet stumbled over gnarled roots, sinking into the damp earth with every desperate step. Heavy with child, the women gasped for air, their bodies too slow for the danger that lurked behind them.
From the depths of the forest, a low, guttural growl rumbled through the silence. The man tightened his hold, urging them forward.

"We're close," he whispered, but his voice trembled with uncertainty. Would they make it?
Behind them, the darkness shifted. Then came the first scream-a cry so inhuman, so bone-chilling, that it sent a jolt of terror through the fleeing trio. They were coming. A flash of golden eyes appeared between the trees, glowing like embers in the pitch-black night. The beasts were hunting them. No, not beasts-something far worse. The Night Hunters.
Faster than the wind, they moved, their sleek, muscular forms blending into the shadows. Their bodies were human in shape, but their claws gleamed under the moonlight, their teeth sharpened like blades. The man yanked the women forward, his heart pounding. The village lights were visible now, flickering like tiny stars through the trees.

"Just a little more-" A snarl ripped through the air.
Then-a blur of movement. A shadow pounced.
The first woman screamed as she was yanked backward, her body slamming into the ground with a sickening thud.

NO!" the man roared, spinning around. Too late. The creature crouched over her, golden eyes gleaming with hunger.
The woman's breath hitched. Her hand instinctively cradled her swollen belly. Not yet. Not here.

The second woman grabbed a fallen branch, her voice shaking. "Leave her alone!" she shouted, swinging at the creature.
The beast let out a sharp hiss, retreating slightly. But another figure emerged from the shadows. Then another. And another. The forest was alive with them now-hunters of the night, the cursed children of the moon.

"We're going to die here."

The man reached for the dagger strapped to his belt, his grip steady despite the fear in his eyes. "No," he muttered, more to himself than to them. "Not tonight."
With a single slash, the blade gleamed. The first beast lunged. The dagger met its flesh. A piercing howl shook the trees as the creature recoiled, a dark, inky substance oozing from its wound. Not blood. Something else. Something unnatural. The other beasts hesitated. Their golden eyes flickered between their wounded kin and the man who dared to fight them.

"NOW!"
The village was only a few steps away. The second woman grabbed the first, helping her to her feet, and they stumbled toward safety. But just as their feet reached the village border, the first woman collapsed. Pain twisted her face. She clutched her stomach.

"No... not now..." she gasped, her nails digging into the dirt.

The second woman dropped to her knees beside her. "Breathe. Stay with me."
A new sound filled the air-the agonized cry of a mother on the verge of bringing life into a world of death. The man stood between them and the beasts, his dagger dripping with the dark substance. He gritted his teeth.😡

"You won't take them," he growled.
The man held a sword in his trembling hands, his breaths ragged. He could not fail. He could not let them take what was his. One of the women, clutching her swollen belly, stumbled. The other grabbed her arm, pulling her forward. They had to make it. A village lay ahead. Safety. Humans. Hunters. If they could just reach it… But fate was cruel. A piercing roar shattered the night. A figure leapt from the trees—a beast, too fast to react. Claws tore through flesh. A scream cut short. Blood splattered the leaves. The man turned, eyes wide in horror, as the woman fell to the ground, lifeless. The surviving woman cried out, but there was no time to grieve.

“Run!” the man ordered, gripping his sword tighter. He stood between the hunters’ village and the creatures who hunted them. His only chance was to fight—to buy enough time for her to escape.
She did not look back. She ran. The sound of swords clashing, beasts howling, and a single, final scream filled the air. By the time she reached the village, her legs gave out. The child inside her kicked—unaware of the bloodshed that had sealed his fate.
The village gates creaked open, and torches flickered to life. "Who goes there?" A hunter, dressed in black armor, stepped forward, his sword drawn.

The woman barely had the strength to speak. "Help… please… my husband… the beom… they…" Her voice broke as her hands clutched her stomach.
The hunter’s eyes flickered to the dark forest, where distant howls still echoed. He turned to the others. "Prepare the defenses. The beasts are near." Then, he looked at the woman. "Take her inside. The child must live." The Curse Begins… That night, two children were born. One, from the woman who had made it to safety a boy with dark eyes and a steady heart. A hunter. A warrior.
The other, from the woman who had died in the forest a boy with golden eyes, his blood forever tainted. A monster in disguise.
They would grow together. They would love. They would be brothers. Until destiny tore them apart.
