The emergency room’s sliding glass doors hissed open as a drenched nurse rushed inside, panic in her eyes.
Behind her, barely visible under the pale streetlamp, stood a ghost of a boy.
Not a ghost..
A boy who looked like one.
Jeon Jungkook.
Soaked to the bone. Barefoot. Hair matted to his forehead, skin pale like candle wax.
Blood smeared down his thighs. His oversized hoodie was soaked, clinging to a body that looked ten kilograms lighter than it should be. His arms held something tightly against his chest.
A baby..
A newborn, wrapped in a towel so dirty it could’ve been mistaken for garbage if not for the soft, whimpering cry it let out.
Jungkook didn’t speak. Didn’t blink.
He just stood there, one hand shielding the baby’s head from the rain, the other gripped tight around the infant’s back, eyes wide like he’d forgotten how to ask for help.
Nurse
Sir— (A nurse approached carefully)
Jeon Jungkook
(Jungkook jerked back)
Jeon Jungkook
Don’t touch him. ❄️ (His voice was hoarse, Scratchy and deadly)
Nurse
Okay.. (the nurse said gently)
Nurse
I won’t. But your baby needs warmth. He’s—
Jeon Jungkook
I said Don’t touch him! (His voice cracked and then it broke)
Jeon Jungkook
He’s mine. No one touches him. He’s mine. ❄️ (growled with weak voice)
Before he collapsed on the floor there was one name slipped from his mouth making the nurse panic and hold the baby and Jk.. while other nurses and doctors came there to take them inside.
