Chapter One~The Driver's Warning.

[...]=a thought/talking in his mind.
E.g; [I wonder if my class will perfect the attendace today.]
The city never seemed to be the right place for me.
The blinding city lights, the bustling of car horns, the city's people always going to bars and clubs, wasting their lives getting drunk―all if these are just reasons why I hated living in this city.
But fate seemed to be on my side as I received an email from the university's council.
"Subject: Exciting Opportunity – Invitation to Teach at Our University
Good day, Mr. Thieron,
I hope this email finds you well.
We are pleased to inform you that your exceptional teaching skills have caught the attention of a prestigious university. Although it is located far from the city, it is well-known among students for its excellent academic programs. They have invited you to join their faculty as a History Teacher, and we congratulate you on this incredible opportunity.
Additionally, please note that our council will provide financial support to assist you with the relocation costs.

(turned his phone off and glanced up the road)

The rain is getting heavier, where the hell is the car that is supposed to pick me up? *irritated*
A black limousine came to sight and stopped in front of Gabriel. The driver got down and opened the door for him to enter.

My, you're late.
"Apologies, kind sir. The rain made it hard for me to drive."
Gabriel Thieron
Well then, get moving. (enters the limousine)
Gabriel Thieron
[I wasn't expecting for a limousine to pick me up, but I'm not complaining.]

(made himself comfortable)
The limousine started driving, slowly but relaxing for Gabriel.
"Mr. Thieron, was it?" The driver spoke.
Gabriel Thieron
Yes, why? *looks at the driver's eyes through the front mirror*
"You must be the History Teacher being sent to the New university…"
Gabriel Thieron
Why, yes I am.
Gabriel Thieron
Do you know what the name of that university is?
Gabriel Thieron
They seem to forgot to tell me.
Gabriel Thieron
*raised a brow*
"The university was rumored to appear out of nowhere'
Gabriel Thieron
How impossible. *frowns*
"Don't you find it unusual how it is located in the high mountains?"
"You're the 3rd Teacher that I'm driving there. There's little information on how they choose teachers to work for them"
Gabriel Thieron
Why are you telling me these?
"I just want you to know, just in case. The university is a very unusual place. No one ever knows where the students came from, let alone the whole university itself."
Gabriel Thieron
*takes a deep breath*

Do you know where the previous teachers are?
Gabriel Thieron
Are they still there?
"I unfortunately don't know."
"I have never seen them after I left them there."
Gabriel Thieron
Well, thank you for your concern.
"I was hoping to change your mind about going there.."
Gabriel Thieron
I understand your intentions.
Gabriel Thieron
But the city isn't for me.
Gabriel Thieron
I would rather stay in an alluring place than suffer in a place where peace doesn't seem to be present.
Gabriel Thieron
(Faced the window)
Gabriel soon arrived at the university.
As he got off the car, the driver stared at him with worrying eyes.
Gabriel thanked the driver before proceeding to enter the main building.
As Gabriel strolled through the campus, he couldn't help but observe the aged architecture of the university.
The once-pristine white paint that adorned the walls of the grand building was now marred by layers of dark, peeling paint, which had obscured its original brilliance.
This transformation gave the structure an almost somber appearance, making it seem as if it had been shrouded in a veil of shadowy black.

[The driver wasn't lying after all.]

[This place gives me a very unusual feeling.]

*shakes his head a little* That doesn't matter.

*noticed the students staring at him*
Gabriel Thieron
*raised a brow* [What an odd looking students. They're so pale.]
Gabriel soon arrived at the classroom where he had been assigned.
As he entered the room, all eyes of the students turned to him.
He was greeted by a council professor of the university.
Isolde Scarlette
Welcome to the university, Mr. Thieron.
Gabriel Thieron
*bows a little* (walks closer to the council Professor)
Isolde Scarlette
I am Isolde Scarlette, most people refer to me as Scarlette around here.
Gabriel Thieron
Well, nice to meet you Scarlette.
Isolde Scarlette
*nods* I am the second head of the council professors.
Isolde Scarlette
I will be the one you reach out to in case you need any assistance.
Isolde Scarlette
(faced the class) These are your students.
Isolde Scarlette
From now on until the school year ends, they will be your students.
Isolde Scarlette
Class, stand up and greet your new professor.
The whole class followed as Scarlette said.
"Good evening, Mr. Thieron. We are pleased to meet you."
Gabriel Thieron
Good evening. Pleased to meet you too, students.
Isolde Scarlette
(faced Gabriel)I hope you have a great experience here in our university.
Isolde Scarlette
Please don't be shy to pay our council a visit to meet more teachers around the university. *smiles lightly*
Gabriel Thieron
*returns the smile* I will.
Isolde Scarlette
I'll be taking my leave. If you ever need me, I'll just be in the main building library.
Gabriel Thieron
Understood.
Gabriel Thieron
(Locked eyes with Scarlette) *flinched*
Gabriel Thieron
(Watched as Scarlette made his way to the door)
Scarlette locked eyes with Gabriel the whole time until he finally left.
A chill ran down Gabriel's spine as the image of Scarlette's unusual glowing red eyes was stuck in his mind.

What the hell... (looks down)
