ep 4
Taehyung packed his things silently in the back room where he’d been staying. His child slept soundly in a makeshift crib made from a fruit basket.
He’d named him Kim Jaehyung. “Bright and eternal,” he’d whispered as he kissed the boy’s forehead.
He hadn’t stopped crying for two days after leaving the hospital. But now, his tears had dried. His pain had become armor.
He was a mother. And he had to live.
The next morning, Mrs. Kang rushed in waving a letter. “Taehyung! It’s from the Busan jewelry company! They approved your resume!”
Taehyung’s eyes widened. He gripped the paper like a lifeline.
He held his baby close, kissed his soft cheeks, and whispered.

“We’re leaving this city. Just you and me now.”

But far away, in a Jeon Mansion nursery bathed in gold and white, a twin brother opened his eyes for the first time…
His name: 𝙅𝙚𝙤𝙣 𝙅𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙖𝙚
Cold like his father.
Warm like his mother.
But empty—without the twin he’d never know he lost.
The Jeon mansion, as always, stood regal and untouched by time—its marble floors glowing in the afternoon sunlight. Yet inside, change had bloomed quietly. The house that once echoed only with silence now held the soft whimpers of a child.
Jeon Jungtae, now five months old, lay curled in Jeon Seokjin’s arms, his small fists waving gently in the air. His soft raven curls stuck to his forehead, and his large doe eyes shimmered like polished obsidian—an exact mirror of his father, Jeon Jungkook.
That very resemblance was what made Jeon Seokjin’s heart clench every time she looked down at the boy.
Footsteps echoed through the hallway.
“I’m home,” came the voice they hadn’t heard in months.
Jeon Seokjin stood frozen.
Jeon Jungkook stepped inside, dressed in black and gray, his tie slightly loosened. His eyes scanned the room, lingering finally on the unfamiliar sight in his mother’s arms.
He stopped in his tracks.

“𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩… 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩?”he asked, his voice unusually cold.
Jeon seokjin
Jeon Seokjin stiffened. “It’s a baby, Jungkook.”

He frowned deeply. “I can see that. Why is there a baby in our house?”
Before Seokjin could answer, Jeon Namjoon walked in from the study, his expression unreadable.
Jeon namjoon
“Sit,” he said to his son.

Jungkook remained standing. “Is someone going to explain?”
Jeon jungkook /young age
Namjoon took a deep breath. “This is your son, Jungkook.”
Jeon jungkook /young age
Jungkook’s eyes narrowed in disbelief. “What are you saying?”
Jeon namjoon
Namjoon lied so smoothly it burned. “We used a surrogate. You were away on business. We made arrangements… We wanted to secure your future, the Jeon bloodline. The baby was carried and delivered during your trip abroad.”
Jungkook stared at him like he’d been slapped.
Jeon jungkook /young age
“A surrogate?” His voice cracked. “Without telling me? Without my consent?”
Jeon namjoon
Namjoon remained calm. “It’s legal. The paperwork was handled through private channels. This is not uncommon for heirs of conglomerates. The baby is biologically yours. We made sure of that.”
Seokjin looked away, unable to meet her son’s eyes
Jungkook was silent for a long time. Then, without a word, he walked over to the baby.
The moment Jeon Jungtae saw him, he burst into soft cries. Seokjin tried to soothe him, but nothing worked.
Jungkook reached out instinctively, and Seokjin, despite the panic in her chest, handed the baby over.
The second Jungkook held him, the cries stopped.
Jungkook stared down at the boy who had his eyes. His jaw. His hands.
Something—some invisible thread—tugged in his chest.
He pressed his lips to the baby’s forehead.
Jeon namjoon
“Jeon Jungtae,” Namjoon said softly. “That’s his name.”
Jungkook didn’t respond. He was too busy memorizing every inch of the child’s face.

“I don’t know how or why…” he whispered, “but… I feel like I know you.”
From the corner, Namjoon and Seokjin exchanged a glance. A glance full of guilt and silence.
They’d taken a child from his mother.
But in exchange… they’d protected a piece of their son’s soul.
