Good morning/afternoon everyone, As a proud member of the armed forces, I stand before you not just to represent the military, but to draw your attention to an often-overlooked kinship — the deep, unwavering connection between soldiers and doctors. At first glance, our uniforms and workplaces might seem worlds apart. One wears camouflage; the other wears a white coat. One trains with weapons; the other with scalpels and stethoscopes. But beneath the surface, our callings are remarkably similar. Both soldiers and doctors are bound by duty. We choose professions where the stakes are nothing less than life and death. Whether on the battlefield or in the emergency room, we make critical decisions under pressure, knowing that lives hang in the balance. Both of us serve a cause greater than ourselves. In the military, we defend the nation — its people, its values, and its sovereignty. Doctors, too, serve humanity — fighting disease, easing suffering, and preserving the dignity of life. In essence, we are guardians: one of life, the other of liberty. Sacrifice is our shared language. Long hours, missed family moments, physical and emotional exhaustion — these are not strangers to either profession. We often put our own comfort, even our safety, aside for the sake of others. We also share a deep respect for discipline and training. In the military, we drill relentlessly to prepare for war. Doctors study, practice, and train rigorously to prepare for emergencies. Neither of us can afford to be unprepared. In our world, complacency can cost lives. Courage is our constant companion. Whether charging into enemy territory or entering a COVID ward during a pandemic, both soldier and doctor walk into danger — not for glory, but because someone has to. Let us not forget that in times of war, doctors stand beside soldiers. They patch our wounds, comfort the dying, and restore hope amid destruction. And in times of peace, soldiers support doctors — during natural disasters, pandemics, or humanitarian missions. We are partners in crisis and allies in service. In the end, both soldiers and doctors are fighters — not always with guns or medicine, but with resolve, compassion, and honor. So today, as a military official, I salute not just my comrades in arms, but also our comrades in healing — the doctors. We may fight on different fronts, but our mission is the same: to protect life, uphold dignity, and serve humanity. Thank you
