THREE
The door shut behind them with a soft thud.
The sound felt louder than any scream Taehyung had ever heard.
Jennie walked ahead, heels echoing against the polished marble.
Her office was bright—minimal, elegant, soulless.
Taehyung stood near the entrance, clutching the small gift bag to his chest like a child trying not to cry in front of a stranger.
jenny
(without looking back)
Why are you here?
The voice was neutral. Like business. Like she wasn’t dragging him away from humiliation moments ago.
kim Tae
(softly)
I… I came to see Jungkook…
jenny
(finally turning around)
“He’s busy.
kim Tae
I know… I just—just wanted to see him for a second.I have something important to tell him.
His voice cracked at the end.
jenny
He’s not available.”
“And if this is about your little emotional episodes again—don’t. He’s under enough pressure already.
kim Tae
(eyes wide, hurt)
I’m not here to fight… I just wanted to see my husband.
jenny
(eyes narrowing)
Your husband?”
Funny. He doesn’t seem to remember that either.
Taehyung took a step back.
jenny
(voice colder)
Have you even noticed how he stopped coming home?
How he stopped calling, texting, asking about you?
Face it, Taehyung. He’s just being polite. He’s moved on.
kim Tae
(tears rising)
N-No… That’s not true. He’s just busy—he always gets quiet when he’s working—
jenny
(cutting him off)
No. He gets quiet when he’s uncomfortable.
When he wants out.
Silence.
The words stabbed harder than any scream.
Taehyung was crying now.
Silently. Head down. Shoulders trembling.
jenny
You don’t belong in his world, Taehyung.”
You never did.”
You’re just a painter from nowhere. A mistake in a mansion full of legacy.
Taehyung opened his mouth, but no words came.
Just one whisper—
kim Tae
I’m… I’m pregnant.
Jennie paused.
Her brows lifted slightly—just for a second.
Then she smiled.
jenny
And you think that’s going to hold him?
Her voice didn’t rise.
It dropped.
Deeper. Sharper
jenny
A baby can’t fix a man who’s already slipping away.
kim Tae
I just… want to see him. Please. Just once.
jenny
(mockingly)
Fine. Let’s test something
She walked to him, plucked the phone from his trembling hand, and handed it back.
Taehyung wiped his tears, clumsily dialed Jungkook’s number.
Ringing.
Then—
Call ended.
He tried again.
Call ended.
Again.
Call declined.
His hands dropped to his lap.
kim Tae
(whispers)
M-Maybe he’s in a meeting…
Jennie grabbed the phone from her phone, typed quickly, and called.
One ring. Two—
Jennie didn’t speak. She looked straight into Taehyung’s eyes—
Then ended the call.
jenny
See?
You’re not the one he answers anymore.
Taehyung looked like the world had cracked beneath him.
His grip on the gift bag loosened
The baby socks nearly fell to the floor.
jenny
(turning to the assistant at the door)
Tia. Take him to my private cabin. Let him cry it out.
kim Tae
(weakly)
I… I’ll only leave after I see him
jenny
Fine. Sit. Wait.
But don’t expect anything
And with that, she turned and walked away.
The room echoed with the sound of her leaving—
and Taehyung’s breath, breaking piece by piece.
