CHAPTER FOUR: Astrid and Halley

Laying in the bed, looking at the ceiling, Phoebe doesn’t know what to do this hour. Her mom already left her alone in the hospital. Her mom was so busy at work that she needs to go home and finish some work at home.

Phoebe wants to go outside to stroll and breathe fresh air, but she couldn’t. She was afraid that she would bump into people or go to crowded places in the hospital.

Until this day she couldn’t go near people, she couldn’t trust anyone. She wished she had a friend by her side, a friend that will always be there for her and trust her. If she had a friend everything that is happening now shouldn’t be happening.

But it will be just delusion and wishful thinking. Her one and the only friend she trusts was the one who shattered her hope. Everything was shattered like a glass that broke into billion pieces that would be like powder. It can’t be fixed, and even if it was forced to fix it will NEVER be the same.

Her normal life, her happy life was affected, implicated, and shattered without her realizing it. She tried to put it back, she tried to fix her life but the people around her wouldn’t let her. Just like her friend, it can’t be fixed, and even if it was forced to fix it will never be the same.

Her normal and happy life turned to hell and she could only feel miserable. Just one night, one day everything changes. BECAUSE OF WHAT? because of one sentence.

After that, everyday new miserable things happen. Everybody just turned against her. She was created by his boyfriend, and bullied by her one trusted friend.

Looking at the ceiling tears fall down her cheek, remembering the past painful memories. Everything that happened she sometimes asked God while praying. She asked if she was a bad person? or she did something wrong that is why this is happening? Then if not why is this happening? She wanted to know why but no one would answer her.

“Astrid wait!” Phoebe heard a girl shout outside her door. The door suddenly opened and two girls ran inside. The two girls look so alike, that it cannot determine which is which.

She looked at the two girls who were panting from exhaustion who were running in the hallway and disturbing other patients.

The two girls suddenly looked at Phoebe who was looking at them. When Phoebe saw that the two girls Phoebe suddenly trembled, she was scared.

The two girls didn’t notice that Phoebe was trembling and shivering afraid of the two girls in front of her.

“Sorry… Astrid is… we are just…” The girl on the right tried to explain but was stopped by the girl on the left before she could finish uttering the word hiding.

“No! we are not hiding at all!” The girl on the left which is called Astrid defended. Astrid was a bit childish. “Halley Shhh!” Astrid looked at the girl on the right who she called Halley.

“Astrid don’t be childish! You are literally running away at the nurse because you don’t want needles and injections!” Halley scolds her sister who is now being unreasonable.

Looking at the two girls in front of her Phoebe remembers her friend Selena. In the past, she and Selena are just like them.

They are like sisters that couldn’t be separated. Before everything happened, Selena would tell her worries to Phoebe and ask for some advice. Both of them know each other's secrets. They will always hang out after school.

Even though Phoebe accepts Aaron, Selena and Phoebe’s relationship didn’t change at all. The only thing that changes there is that Aaron joins them.

She once again remembers her friend she lost. Her tears fall on her cheeks. Astrid and Halley arguing beside the door saw her crying.

“Halley! What do we do?” Astrid was shocked and panicked. She didn’t know why the patient in front of them started crying. She tries to remember what she does wrong.

“Okay! I am sorry… I was hiding from the nurse who wants to get my blood” Astrid said apologetically and also in a panic tone.

“Sorry, we didn’t mean to disturb you!” Halley apologizes as well. She was also in shock and panic. It was the first time she experienced this kind of situation. In a normal situation, they will be scolded by the patient they disturb not crying in front of them.

“Phoebe! Is it true?” Selena barged inside the classroom. Phoebe was the only one there. Phoebe looked confused at Selena. She didn't know what Selena was asking.

“I heard… you cheated on Aaron and was seen near a hotel with some random guy,” Selena said disgust can see on her face and the tone of her voice.

“WHAT!? I- I was not like that! You know me, Selena!” Phoebe defended herself. She didn’t know why there was some baseless rumor about her.

“I don’t know…” Selena replied, she looked away and walked out of the room. Phoebe was dumbfounded, she was shocked to see her friend she trusts didn’t trust her at all.

She tried to follow Selena. When she went out of the room, she saw students in the hallway looking at her with disgust.

“I heard that yesterday an Alumni went here and he was so handsome,” a girl beside the window said to her friend next to her.

“Yeah… I heard also about it and he said that Phoebe from the third year was a B-I-T-C-H and W-H-O-R-E who sleeps randomly to any guy she met” the girl next to the girl beside the window said.

Phoebe was shocked, she didn’t know anybody from the Alumni. She doesn’t have any friends from the higher year because she didn’t want to mingle with them. She also knew her classmates and a few other students in the same year. So she was shocked to hear that some Alumni said that to her.
