The Cursed Womb {Omegaverse}
Stupidly Normal
Eliott’s arms tightened around the cat the moment he pulled it free from the tangle of branches.
But the victory was short-lived. As he shifted his weight, the branch beneath his bare foot gave a sharp crack.. and slipped.
Gasps rose from below. The guards were still halfway to the tree, net dangling uselessly in their hands. Mara screamed.
Eliott fell.
But instead of pain, he landed in strong arms.
Blinking, a little breathless, he looked up to find a familiar face smirking down at him.
Eliott
I didn’t know the assistant physicians had that kind of arm strength
Eliott muttered, still holding the cat.
Mara
(rushing over, panicked)
Princess Eliott! Are you hurt? Do you feel dizzy? Broken? Bruised? Say something!
Eliott said, brushing off his gown with one hand while the other cradled the cat
Eliott
Mara, breathe. I’m fine. Sir Whiskers is fine too. He’s just a little dramatic.
The young man beside him rolled his eyes.
Tobias
I am your physician, Your Highness. I prescribe less tree climbing in gowns and more common sense.
Eliott
Noted. I’ll climb in trousers next time.
Mara, still fussing with Eliott’s sleeves, muttered
Mara
Don’t encourage her, Tobias.
Tobias
Too late, Granny. Remember the last time she climbed the tower wall just to get a flower?
Eliott
You said the scent was calming. I wanted to see if the real thing helped
Tobias
You got stung by three bees--
Mara
You two bicker like old women.
Eliott
We’re practically married. He checks my pulse more than I do.
Tobias
(mock gasp)
Are you proposing, Princess?
Eliott
Only if you promise to keep bringing those mint sweets.
Tobias
So it’s not love. It’s bribery.
Eliott
(laughing softly)
Same thing in royal circles.
Mara
(walking off, muttering)
One of you is going to be the death of me…
The three of them stood under the shade of the tree.. one disgruntled, one amused, and one pretending to be offended.. while the cat stretched and yawned like royalty.
Despite the rules, the secrets, and the constant pressure of being the kingdom’s hidden Omega prince, there were still moments like this.
Moments where Eliott could laugh. Where Tobias wasn’t a physician. And Mara wasn’t just the voice of duty.
It was just a sunny afternoon in Avaloria, and everything felt wonderfully, stupidly normal.
