Emrys slammed the door to his room, tossed his bag to the floor, and dramatically flopped onto his bed. The ceiling stared back blankly as the day's humiliation replayed cruel, vivid flashes.
Seraphina's cruel laugh.
Desmond's smug, perfect face.
Everyone's stupid laughter.
He groaned and grabbed the nearest plushie - a soft, chubby penguin named Mr. Waddles - and punch it square in the face.

Stupid. Stupid Desmond. Smug prick. Hope you choked on your expensive coffee.
He grumbled, jabbing Mr. Waddles again for good measure. The poor penguin flopped to the floor like a casualty of war.
After a long sigh, Emrys dragged himself up and shuffled to the bathroom. A quick splash of cold water and change into his comfiest hoodie later, he settled into his gaming chair like a defeated gremlin, spinning slightly as he opened his laptop.
He scrolled mindlessly through game videos and streams until a thumbnail caught his eye.

The screen loaded a live stream of Arcane Realms Online. No facecam - just a mic and a close-up of a pair of hands on a sleek keyboard, occasionally flashing to the game screen.
But it wasn't the visuals that got him. It was the voice.
Smooth, confident, with that annoyingly smug edge. The way the guy laughed. Even the cocky lilt in his teasing.
And those hands - slender, precise, with a silver ring on the pinky finger.
