Crying with the rain

Mai POV

It's Friday since Kenji isn't talking to me again, I'm planning to go to their match secretly.

"Class dismiss" the teacher said and I just remembered that I'm a cleaner today

After cleaning the classroom I ran to the gym immediately and saw the match is starting and it's current standing were 11-9 in favor of the other school

"He's the one who replaced me? Kenji?" I heard the two boys chatting. There aren't many audiences since it's only a practice match

"Yes, I'm here before they started and the other 6 points was pointed by him, it's 3 points shoot" the student beside Kyle said

"Woah, then why he didn't join the basketball team?" Kyle asked

"I don't know" the student beside him answered. I pay attention to Kenji who steal the ball from the enemy. He ran fast and then another player tried to stole the ball, so he shoot it, and he scored

"Wow!!"

"How can he do that?"

"I know right hahaha, when an enemy appeared before me and waving his hand around I couldn't see haha" they commented

The game ended, and our school wins with 51-46 standing. Kyle and the one beside him ran off to Kenji. He smiled while Kenji was just drinking water. He closed the water bottle and suddenly we made an eye contact, and I just smiled while waving my hand when my phone also rings, I picked it up immediately

"H-hello, Jia?" I greeted her, I also saw that Kenji is still glancing at me

"Want to hang out?" she asked with a cold voice

"I-I can't" I answered

"What? Again? Just tell us if you don't want to be friends!" she shouted

"N-no! T-that's not i.."

"Don't need to say. You know, we don't really want to become friends with you in the first place!" I heard Gail said, I was surprised

"You're gross, your outfit sucks even your clothes are expensive" Faith...

"If you don't have money in the first place, I'll not even look at you" Jia said before they hang up. I feel something wet dropped at my legs, more and more like a rain. I know that they just want my money, but I didn't think it hurts when you hear it from their mouth. I feel something falling and my chin got wet too. Oh? I'm crying? Why? I thought I'm strong enough to not get hurt again? I thought I'm strong enough to risk my feelings and became friends with them?

I wiped my tears before I ran. Ran out of the school, ran at the streets until I reached a beach beside a road. I threw my bag, my shoes, my phone, and let my feet feel the water that becomes cold because the rain started to cry with me.

"Will I feel like I never exist again?" I asked myself

"It looks like I failed at this gamble. It's sad" I wiped my tears again but it won't stop. Why do I love myself? Why did I believe in myself? The myself that isn't true. The myself look strong. The rain became stronger and the waves are reaching my body

"Y-you'll comfort me right? That's w-why you make i-it rain r-right?" I walked closer to the waves. I started to swim, and stopped when I'm few meters far from the shore. You want to end my pain right, that why I can't breathe right now?

"I-Idiot!!" I heard Kenji's voice

"W-What are you doing!" Kenji's voice again. An arm wrapped around my waist and an arms who supported my legs. I can feel the raindrops again, I opened my eyes, and saw the sad sky, and hear Kenji breathing. Kenji put me down slowly away from the sea while he looks running out of breath

"S-sorry" I said, he looked at me before he grabbed my hand

"It's cold here, my house is closer come with me" he said

I wore Kenji's hoodie and his pajama, he came out of the kitchen and gave me a mug with coffee before he sit close to me

"How did you find me?" I asked with a weak voice

"I followed you, I saw you cry and ran" he said

"What happened? Is it Jia and the others?" he asked, I faked a smile

"You're right, they're fake friends. I knew it but it still hurts huh? When you hear it from them" I said and tears slowly started to fall

"I didn't know I'm still this weak" I looked at him, smiling but my eyes and tears don't want to cooperate

"Everyone have feelings, so of course you'll get hurt. What's important now is that you're alive, sitting close to me" he said and looked away

"I'm glad" I hear him whispered. Maybe I still really exist for someone?
