Ch 2
Chapter 2: The Art of Saying No (Maybe)
Lucus
Hmm, I bet you're all wondering. (◔‿◔)
Lucus
What did I say to that ridiculously handsome, out-of-my-league 'Man' who asked me on a date? 😊( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Lucus
You know the answer, right? (◠‿◕)
Lucus hoisted a ridiculously heavy pot of peace lilies, grunting as he maneuvered it across the shop floor.
Lucus
Obviously, I told him 'no' !<( ̄︶ ̄)>
Lucus
Do I look like I have time for dates? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Lucus
My life is a carefully choreographed chaos of flower emergencies and bill payments. 😤😤
Lucus
There's no slot in my calendar for 'charming Man endeavors,' let alone 'potential kidnapping scenarios.(ノ`Д´)ノ彡┻━┻
Lucus
*He wiped sweat from his brow* Seriously, you guys.
Lucus
Don't look at me like that.
*He gestured vaguely at the silent flowers.*
Lucus
What if he was a kidnapper? Σ(ಠ_ಠ)(ー_ー゛)
Lucus
A charming, super-rich, dadd-y kidnapper,
Lucus
Sure, but a kidnapper nonetheless!
Lucus
These days, you can't trust anyone.
Lucus
Especially someone who asks you on a date while holding a blue rose.
Lucus
*He gave the peace lilies a stern look.*
Lucus
Come on, don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about.
Lucus
You've seen the news. And I didn't even know his name!
Lucus
Just 'Sir William.' Who proposes a date with a single name?
Lucus
That's, like, level one of 'How to Get Scammed Online.'
Lucus
No thanks. My life is complicated enough without adding 'missing persons report' to my to-do list."
*He sighed, the sound echoing a bit in the quiet shop.*
Lucus
But... he was an eye-candy, though. I'll give him that.
A tiny, almost imperceptible smile touched his lips.
Lucus
Like, major eye-candy. Wouldn't mind if he showed up every day.
Lucus
Just to, you know, brighten the place up.
Lucus
But he hasn't come back since. It's been three days now.
He slumped against the counter, a faint pang of... something, stirring in his chest.
Guess he forgot all about me. 😔
The familiar rumble of his scooter's engine filled the evening air as Lucus kicked it to life outside the shop.
The little vehicle sputtered, then purred, ready for his commute home.
Lucus
*muttering to the helmet he was pulling on* Yeah, he's definitely forgotten you, Lucus.
Lucus
Just another peculiar man running a flower shop. Nothing for a Rich to remember.
He gave a final glance back at his shop, then sped off into the twilight.
