Taehyung didn’t flinch. Not when Jungkook stepped into his space, not when his Alpha aura pressed in like a velvet noose.

You’re bleeding through your suppressants.
( Jungkook murmured, voice husky with restrained power.)
Even the wind can smell it.
Kim Taehyung
(Taehyung held his blade steady, tip grazing Jungkook’s chest.)
Come any closer, and I’ll cut that smug face in half.
But Jungkook didn’t stop.
He leaned in until the blade pressed against his skin, drawing a thin line of red.

I thought you liked seeing me bleed.
Kim Taehyung
I prefer watching you crawl.
(Taehyung shot back, though his voice trembled—not with fear, but something far more treacherous: desire.)
Jungkook’s amber eyes darkened, pupils dilating as his body reacted. Even for an Enigma Alpha, his instincts stirred at the faintest trace of Omega heat.
But Taehyung wasn’t just any Omega.

His reflection in shattered glass.

Why did you come?
( Taehyung asked, dropping the blade to his side, tension stiff in his frame.)
To drag me back to your cage?

I came.
( Jungkook said slowly.)
..because I felt you slipping through the bond again.

(Taehyung blinked.)
It wasn’t complete. Not officially. Not mated. But Enigmas didn’t need a bite to feel the burn of ownership.

You think this... whatever we are... means you still own me?
Jeon Jungkook
(Jungkook stepped back finally, giving him space, gaze unreadable.)
I think you’re scared.

(Taehyung scoffed.)

No.
(Jungkook said.)

In another part of the city, Jimin stood in front of a mirror, buttoning up a blood-red shirt. His fingers trembled faintly.
Suppressants weren’t enough today.
His body was reacting, not to a stranger’s presence—but Yoongi’s.
The Alpha hadn’t even touched him… yet somehow, his scent lingered like smoke after a fire.
Park Jimin
(He glanced at the door just as it opened.)
Yoongi stepped inside without knocking.
Park Jimin
You’re late.
( Jimin teased, though there was a tremor in his voice he didn’t like.)
Min Yoongi
You're flaring.
Min Yoongi
So you didn’t tell me you were Enigma.
Park Jimin
(Jimin turned sharply, eyes flashing.)
It’s not a secret I owe anyone.
Min Yoongi
I’m not just anyone.
There was a long, loaded silence.
Park Jimin
(Then Jimin smiled coldly.)
No, you’re not. You’re the Alpha who pretends he doesn’t care.
Min Yoongi
(Yoongi walked forward, close but not touching. His eyes, usually so cold, now burned with something dark.)
Maybe I don’t pretend.
Jimin's breath hitched.
Maybe they were more alike than he thought.
Back on the rooftop, the silence between Taehyung and Jungkook stretched.

I’m not going back.
( Taehyung said finally.)
Jeon Jungkook
I didn’t come to take you back.
Taehyung narrowed his eyes.
Jungkook leaned in again, slow and deliberate, brushing his fingers over the scar on Taehyung’s wrist—the one he gave him during their last fight.
Kim Taehyung
Then what did you come for?
(Taehyung whispered.)
Jungkook’s voice was low, nearly feral.
Jeon Jungkook
To remind you that no matter how far you run... your body remembers me.
Taehyung’s heart thudded. Rage and desire tangled in his veins. He slapped Jungkook’s hand away, but it was too late.
His scent had spiked.
The bond shimmered between them—silent, magnetic, wild.
Kim Taehyung
You should leave.
( Taehyung said, voice tight.)
Jeon Jungkook
I will.
(Jungkook replied.)
But not before you remember who made you burn like this first.
And then he vanished into the shadows, leaving only heat and the ghost of a feeling Taehyung had tried for years to bury.
