Fin lay on the old couch in his childhood room, eyes wide open, blanket kicked to the floor.
He hadn’t slept.
Couldn’t sleep.
Down the hall, in the guest room—because Dr. Wesley refused to let them share a room in his house—Grey was probably sleeping like a recharged android, completely unbothered by the emotional meltdown he’d triggered.
Fin groaned and buried his face in a pillow.
Ten minutes later, he was knocking on the guest room door.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Half-whispering, panicked~
Fin Wesley [O]
Are you awake?
The door opened almost instantly. Grey stood there in loose sleepwear, no coat, no boots—just him.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
I am now.
Fin Wesley [O]
I’m losing my mind. That’s what’s happening. I’m bonding-mad.
Fin Wesley [O]
Or I have husband poisoning. Or this is a long simulation built to test Omega stress levels.”
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
~Stepped aside, letting him in~
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
Sit down.
Fin Wesley [O]
No. I’ll pace, thanks.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Started circling the room like a malfunctioning drone~
Fin Wesley [O]
You love me? How? You don’t even smile.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
(gently): I smile when you’re not looking.
Fin Wesley [O]
(choking): That’s not helping!
Fin Wesley [O]
~Collapsed on the edge of the bed~
Fin Wesley [O]
I Didn’t even want to date anyone this year. Now I’m married, in a legal bond, and your servants fold my underwear.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
(softly): Do you want out?
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
IF this is too much. I’ll release you from the bond. No pressure. No consequences.
Fin stared at him. At the man who said I love you like it was a vow. Who stood steady through every meltdown. Who gave him the choice now, even if it cost him everything.
Fin Wesley [O]
Why are you so patient with me?
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
Because you’re worth waiting for.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Swallowed hard. Tears stung his eyes~
Fin Wesley [O]
(mumbling): You’re not making it easy to stay mad, you know.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
I’m not trying to make you stay. I’m trying to make you feel safe.
Fin stared up at him for a long, quiet second.
Then he slid under the covers, yanked them up to his chin, and muttered:
Fin Wesley [O]
Fine. You can sleep here. But if you try to cuddle me, I’ll bite you.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
😊~smiled~
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
Understood.
Morning: Sunlight filtered through the pale blue curtains, casting soft beams across the guest room. Fin stirred, face smushed into Grey’s chest, one leg slung over his husband's waist like they’d been married for years instead of days.
And then—
The door opened.
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
(sharply): Fin, breakfast is ready—
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
~Eyes opened instantly~
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
~Stared~
Fin slowly blinked awake, sensing the nuclear tension before his brain fully booted up.
Then he saw his dad.
Then he saw how he was laying.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Bolting upright~
Blankets flew. Pillows hit the floor. Fin practically launched off the bed like an escape pod, dragging half the sheets with him.
Fin Wesley [O]
(yelling): DAD—KNOCK! What the hell?!
Fin Wesley [O]
I thought you were all about personal boundaries!
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
~Calm, but with dangerous dad energy~
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
I didn’t expect to find my son playing koala on a decorated war general before 9 AM.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
~Still lying down, completely unbothered~
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
We were sleeping.
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
You were bond-napping, which I didn’t approve.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Pointing aggressively~
Fin Wesley [O]
You’re lucky I didn’t bite you on reflex!
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
(to Fin): You’ve been married four days and already abandoned all shame.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
~Sitting up, calm as ever~
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
Technically, it’s been three days.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Shrieking into his hands~
Fin Wesley [O]
STOP HELPING, GREY!
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
~Turned to leave but paused at the door~
Dr. Linus Wesley [B]
Kitchen. Five minutes. And wear pants.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Falling back onto the bed in pure despair~
Fin Wesley [O]
I’m never coming home again. I’m deleting Earth from my map.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
~Reached for a shirt~
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
That went better than expected.
Fin Wesley [O]
~Groaned into a pillow~
Fin Wesley [O]
I hate how your idea of success is ‘no one died.
Gen. Grey Mavel [E]
It's efficient.
