Silence In the Ranks (Taekook,Vkook, BTS)
The File
The barracks were quiet that night—moonlight casting silver shadows over walls littered with medals, weapon racks, and faded maps scorched by history. Taehyung sat alone in his quarters, back rigid against the leather chair, the glow of the tablet screen casting sharp light over his chiseled face.
The name glared back at him:
Jeon Jungkook
Omega. 26. Field Surgeon. Emergency Combat Medic.
He exhaled through his nose, jaw tightening. The file was thick—commendations from the southern medical camp, trauma surgeries in live fire zones, photos of the omega kneeling beside bloodied soldiers, hands soaked in crimson, face set in clinical calm. A transcript of a battlefield decision where he had amputated a sergeant’s leg with no sedation, saving his life and commanding a panic-stricken unit to fall back—all without losing focus.
"Sharp instincts under pressure."
That’s what the reports said.
He tapped the screen again, eyes narrowing at the footage attached. A blurry video—taken during an airstrike—showed Jungkook dragging a wounded soldier across gravel, flames at his back, bullets raining overhead. He shielded the soldier’s body with his own. Bandaged the leg under cover fire. Didn't flinch once.
But this—this was not Black Squad.
Taehyung set the tablet down, leaning forward as his elbows rested on his knees. His midnight hair fell into his eyes, and for a moment, he just stared at the floor, pulse ticking in his jaw.
General Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
“Let’s see if you survive,” he muttered, voice dark, “when you’re not just the doctor—but the soldier.”
Because combat medics in Black Squad weren’t sheltered in tents. They ran into fire before the bullets stopped. They were the first to arrive and the last to retreat. They carried their wounded and their rifles in the same hand. And Taehyung didn’t tolerate anything less than excellence—Alpha or Omega.
If Jeon Jungkook thought this was going to be like his previous deployments, he was wrong.
Taehyung stood, broad shoulders rolling with the weight of command as he looked out the window toward the horizon, where the sky bled into dawn.
General Kim Taehyung (Alpha)
“Report at 0500 hours, Jungkook,” he murmured to the darkness. “Let’s see if your hands can still heal after they learn to kill.”
