FIRST LECTURE

The next morning, the sun peeked gently through the curtains, stirring the boys from their deep sleep. One by one, they stretched and yawned, still a little tired but excited for the day ahead.

As Idris sat up and rubbed his eyes, Michael suggested, "Let’s start the day with a prayer."

Everyone agreed without hesitation. Jordan, feeling a quiet nudge in his spirit, offered to lead. They all gathered briefly in the center of the room, heads bowed as Jordan prayed for strength, wisdom, and God’s presence throughout their day.

After the prayer, the room quickly became a flurry of movement. Justin hurried to get ready — his classes in the Faculty of Medicine were starting early. Idris, studying Mass Communication, scrambled to gather his notebooks. Meanwhile, Jordan and Michael, both in the Faculty of Business, grabbed their bags, smiling at the thought of sitting together in their first lecture.

They didn’t have time to eat — the rush was too much — so with empty stomachs but full hearts, they dashed off, splitting up at the main corridor.

"See you guys later!" Idris called, heading toward his department building.

"Good luck, Doctor Justin!" Michael teased as Justin sprinted away toward the medical complex.

Jordan and Michael jogged together toward the Faculty of Business, excitement and a little nervousness bubbling inside them. It was a new beginning, and they were ready to make the most of it — with God by their side.

When they got to their classes, the school environment was already buzzing with students — some rushing around, others chatting excitedly in small groups.

Justin found his way to the Faculty of Medicine building, slightly out of breath but relieved he wasn’t late. As he entered the large hall filled with other medical students, he felt a wave of excitement and nervousness. This was the beginning of his journey to becoming a doctor, and deep inside, he promised himself he would give it his best.

Idris, on the other hand, had to ask for directions a couple of times before finally finding the Mass Communication department. When he stepped into his lecture room, he smiled to himself — it felt like the right place. He quickly found a seat at the back and pulled out his notebook, ready to begin.

Meanwhile, Jordan and Michael, both in the Faculty of Business, walked into their lecture hall together. The room was wide and filled with students chatting and settling in.

As they sat side by side, Jordan glanced around, a little overwhelmed by how many people were there. Michael noticed and nudged him lightly with his elbow.

"We’ve got this," Michael said quietly, giving him a reassuring smile.

Jordan smiled back, feeling a lot better.

Though their stomachs rumbled from missing breakfast, their hearts were full of excitement, hope, and faith. Sitting there, waiting for their lecturer to arrive, they both felt a deep assurance: they were exactly where God wanted them to be.

In the Faculty of Medicine, Justin sat quietly among the rows of students, tapping his pen on his notebook while waiting for the lecturer. A few minutes later, the door opened and in walked a young woman, elegant and confident, carrying a folder in her hand. She had a warm but firm smile.

She introduced herself clearly:

"Good morning, everyone. I’m Miss Freyda Omotola, an intern lecturer from Lagos State. I'm twenty-eight years old, and I’ll be handling some of your first-year modules."

As she spoke, Justin stared, feeling something he had never felt before. His heart skipped a beat — it was love at first sight. Though she was three years older than him, her voice, her beauty, and her calm confidence completely captured him. He quickly shook his head, trying to focus, but deep down, he knew something had awakened inside him.

Meanwhile, over at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Idris had a different experience. His lecturer, Mr. Adeoye Bamidele, a kind man in his early forties, entered the class with a cheerful smile.

"Good morning, my wonderful students," he greeted warmly, making everyone feel instantly at ease. Idris felt relaxed and happy, knowing he would enjoy his time under such a friendly teacher.

In the Faculty of Business, Jordan and Michael sat side by side, their notebooks ready. Soon, a tall, serious-looking man in his forties entered the class.

"I am Mr. Bright Lawrence," he said in a deep voice. "I don’t tolerate lateness or unseriousness. If you want to succeed, you must be ready to work hard."

The atmosphere in the room tightened a little, but Jordan and Michael exchanged a knowing glance. They respected Mr. Bright’s firmness — they both understood that discipline was necessary for success. Even though Mr. Bright was strict, they felt ready for the challenge, determined to shine in their new environment.

Across the different faculties, each boy was starting a new journey in his own way — with excitement, faith, and dreams bigger than they could imagine.
