Hii
And somewhere, on a train cutting through Rajasthan’s restless plains, a boy with storm-dark eyes felt, for the briefest moment, a tug in his chest — as though a flame miles away had just called his name.
The Bombay Baroda Express hurtled through Rajasthan’s endless ochre plains, the train’s wheels clattering out a rhythm older than the tracks. The sun was beginning its slow descent, painting the sands with a lazy, golden hue.
In the first-class compartment, five young men had turned the otherwise dignified berth into a rolling tavern.

Sameer Vinay
(grinning as he polished off his third laddoo): “Alright, gentlemen — who bets Dhruv here will fall in love with a ghost princess when we reach Jaipur?”
Kunal
Kunal
(stretching his legs, amused): “I’ll take that bet. He’s brooding too much. Classic symptom.
Kunal
Kunal
(raising his teacup): “To bad poetry and ghost princesses, then!”
They all laughed, except Dhruv, who was still staring out the window at the shifting sands.
Dhruv Malhotra

(smirking faintly, without turning): “Laugh all you want. I swear, something’s pulling me there. Jaipur’s not just another deal.”
Arjun Sinha
Arjun Sinha
(rolling his eyes): “It’s Jaipur, Dhruv. Not some mythical city of lost lovers.”
Rohan Sisodia
Rohan Sisodia
(muttering, nose buried in a book of Rajasthani legends): “You’d be surprised.”
Sameer Vinay
Sameer Vinay
(mock-spooked): “Look at Rohan getting poetic! What does your little book say, eh?”
Rohan Sisodia
Rohan Sisodia
(reading dramatically): ‘In the sands of Rajputana, when the wind calls your name, a forgotten soul answers.’”
Sameer Vinay
Sameer Vinay
(clutching his chest, fake-swooning): “Oh, I’m in love already. Somebody hold me!”
More laughter. Even Dhruv cracked a proper grin this time, leaning back, flicking a stray hair from his forehead.

You’ll see. Fate owes me something in Jaipur.”
And miles ahead, in a palace painted the color of old roses, Diara Rathore dreamed.
Her sleep was restless, the heavy air pressing against her like silk bandages. In her dream, she stood in the palace courtyard under a full, indifferent moon. A figure waited by the fountain — a boy she’d never seen, but whose storm-dark eyes felt impossibly familiar.
Diara Singh Rathore
Diara Singh Rathore
(in the dream, breath catching): “Who… who are you?”
The boy smiled. Not cruelly. Not politely. But like someone who had been searching for her his entire life.
Someone
Someone
(softly, as though he already knew her heart): “Your name… is Diara.”
And though it was her own name, it felt like a secret only he had ever spoken right
She woke with a start, heart pounding. The room was quiet, save for the soft creak of the ceiling fan.
Diara Singh Rathore
Diara Singh Rathore
(thinking, pressing a hand to her chest): “Who… was that? And why do I feel as if I’m about to meet him?”
Outside, the first stars began to scatter across the ink-blue sky. The train drew closer. The city waited. And fate, silent and smiling, laid its pieces in place.
