Prologue

Celestine's POV:

Ever since a little kid, all I've ever learnt is that humans are like swords. Sharp. Poised. Dangerous.

You polish it, take good care of it and it could cut through any obstacles in your path.

There's no place of compassion in this putrid world. All you need is power to trample the less powerful in your quest to become the best.

I,Celestine Night was truly created for only and only that one purpose.

"I hope you know what to do and how to do it."

Crouching in front of the man I despise,I couldn't help but let out a bitter chuckle.

"What other choices do I even have other than to do your filthy job,King Xavier?"

The king let out a malicious laughter at my words.

"Well said.I hope you have what it takes to do this,you're my only hope,Selena."

"Rest assured,I will complete the assignment and this will be the last time I play as your puppet. I hope you can keep your word,father."

I didn't wait for him to reply as I walked out of the mansion that belongs to the royal family.

I'm not sure why,but I for some reason as I was headed to my quarter I felt the impulse to visit the one place that held all my dreams once upon a time.

Before I could stop myself,as if by some invisible force drawing me there I ran to the abandoned rose garden in the outskirts of the palace where there is no longer the sweet smell of flowers all around me,neither there is the laughter that once echoed all around like an ever lasting river.

When flowers die all that is left is the thorns.

"I knew I'd find you here,Selly!"

"What the hell Carlos!"

I jumped,kicking at Carlos in the knee and he groaned from the pain.

"Don't startle me like that,you idiot. "

"Well atleast you didn't castrate me."

I waved in the air as if I was chasing some flies away.

Carl has been one of my most trusted subordinate since he came into the kingdom and I can't deny the fact that he's very useful when it comes to my assignments.

"Cut the bullcrap.You've made the necessary arrangements, yes?"

"Of course I have. As your trusted partner,I gotta take care of every shitty thing,Cel. Gimme some credit."

"Shut up and give me the darn documents already, Carlos." Shaking my head at Carl,I snatched the documents from his grasp.

"You're no fun at all,Cel. But on the plus side,we are starting anew!"

Shaking his head as I ignored his cheeky remarks,he fell in a step behind me as we exited the garden.

I knew what I had to do,but as I walked out the gate of the Royal Palace,I realised that this will be the first time that I am allowed to walk out of this filthy,dirty place that has no value in my heart.

We're gonna start anew. Soon

"Goodies,the car is here Cel!"

For one last time I stared at the Royal palace towering over like a giant up in the sky and thought..

This is a new beginning..For better, or worse.
