The buzzing of Jungkook’s phone on the cluttered table was the only sound in the apartment
Apart from the low music playing from his old speaker
He was in the middle of adding soft brushstrokes to a half-finished painting—a field under a bruised, violet sky—when the name “Mother” flashed across the screen

(Groaning, he wiped his paint-stained hands on his hoodie and picked up

(Her voice was sharp. Too sharp)

(Looked like a prince carved out of marble—and completely unbothered by the chaos around him)
Jungkook had seen him in magazines. His brother’s fiancé. Cold. Calculated. Mysterious

(Didn’t look at Jungkook even once)
JEON JUNGKOOK
How can Hyung just disappear?( whispered to his mother)
MRS. JEON
We think he ran, (she whispered back bitterly) From the marriage. From the company. From everything
