The Girl He Was Paid to Forget
Cruel and heartless
Morning sun filtered into the mansion, golden and soft—but inside, everything was cold.
Nidhi entered quietly, her expression unreadable. She placed the cup of coffee gently on Manav’s table without a word, turned around, and walked out as if he wasn’t even there.
Manav stared at the cup. The silence she wrapped around herself was beginning to slice into him deeper than any insult could. A thousand thoughts ran through his mind, none of them calm.
The cup flew across the desk and shattered, dark coffee spilling like blood. Without thinking, his fist came down hard onto the fragments. A sharp sting bloomed instantly, but the pain... he welcomed it. It was real. It grounded him.
Blood trickled down from his palm. His smirk returned.

“She’ll talk to me now.”
The dining hall was filled with the clatter of cutlery and murmured conversation between staff—but Nidhi didn’t look up from her plate. Manav walked in, hand now bandaged hastily, and took his seat across from her.
She served him food silently, avoiding his gaze.
manav kapoor
“I can’t eat with one hand,” he said coolly, watching her.
nidhi shrma
“You have another one,” she replied flatly.
nidhi shrma
She finally looked at him, brows furrowing. “You’re unbelievable.”
Still, she picked up a piece of roti, tore it slowly, and lifted it toward his mouth. His eyes didn’t leave her face for a second.
She fed him once, then twice, then paused.
nidhi shrma
“You hurt yourself on purpose,” she said quietly. “Didn’t you?”
nidhi shrma
Her hands trembled slightly. “Why would you do something so—so insane?”
nidhi shrma
She shook her head, her voice cracking, “Just don’t do this again. If you want me this badly… you can ask me. This—this is crazy, Manav. It’s psychotic. You’re doing something like a psychopath!”
His eyes flickered slightly. Not with shame. But something darker… deeper.
nidhi shrma
“You don’t need to hurt yourself to get me to look at you,” she continued, breath unsteady. “Just ask me. I’ll do it.”
And in that moment, with her eyes blazing and voice shaking, she looked more broken than him.
He didn’t say a word. But the smirk had vanished.
Late Night – Manav’s Room
Nidhi stepped in with the dinner tray, her eyes blank, movements mechanical. Manav looked up, the smirk already on his lips.
manav kapoor
“Didn’t think you'd come,” he teased.
nidhi shrma
She didn't react. “You hurt yourself just so I would.”
manav kapoor
He didn’t deny it. “And it worked.”
nidhi shrma
Her jaw tightened. “You’re insane.”
She placed the tray in front of him and sat beside him without a word. He extended his injured hand like a child expecting care. She sighed and picked up the spoon.
Silence lingered for a moment — a thick, heavy silence. But of course, he broke it.
manav kapoor
“Nidhi,” he said softly. “Just tell me the truth… why are you so afraid of me?”
nidhi shrma
“I’m not afraid of you,” she said, scoffing. “I’m disgusted.”
nidhi shrma
“You think this—” she gestured at the tray, the spoon, his bandaged hand, “—means something? It doesn’t. I’d do this for a stranger if they were bleeding.”
manav kapoor
“That’s not true.”
nidhi shrma
“You don’t know me at all, Manav. You’ve built this ridiculous fantasy in your head. You think I’m some girl with a broken past that you can fix and claim.”
manav kapoor
His breath hitched slightly. “That’s not—”
nidhi shrma
“Save it,” she cut him off sharply. I’m not your project. I’m not your charity case. I’m not going to fall at your feet just because you act like some martyr in pain.”
manav kapoor
“You’re lying,” he whispered. “You don’t mean that.”
manav kapoor
“Oh, I do,” she said, feeding him another spoon with force. “Because if I don’t say it like this, you’ll never stop. You’ll keep pushing. And I’m tired of people thinking they can save me. Especially you.”
Manav stared at her, the softness gone from his eyes, replaced by something darker… deeper
manav kapoor
“Fine,” he said through gritted teeth. “Then don’t blame me for what I become.”
She blinked, the words slicing through the air like a blade.
“Don’t hurt yourself again,” she muttered, standing up. “If you want me to do something… ask. But next time, if you bleed, I’ll walk away.”
She left, closing the door softly behind her — but the storm she left inside still raged.
manav kapoor
" Why are you so cruel with me Nidhi I have done nothing wrong"
manav kapoor
I...I just ....
She was looking out of the window, deep in the sky tears streaming down her face
nidhi shrma
" why everything have to be like this.why just why"
nidhi shrma
"He has done nothing wrong to deserve those words"
nidhi shrma
"I am cruel and heartless"
nidhi shrma
"He must hate me now"
