Riven sat on the hospital bed, staring at the floor.
His mind? An absolute dumpster fire.
Because now, every time he looked at someone—
He heard their thoughts.
And worst of all?
They were all absolute morons.
The doctor entered, holding a clipboard. “Good news, Mr. Hale. You’re being discharged today.”
Riven’s head pounded.
“…I hope this rich bastard doesn’t sue us.”
Excuse me?
RIVEN HALE/RIVEN/MC
*He narrowed his eyes* i won’t sue you. Calm down.
The doctor blinked. “What?”
Riven’s expression froze.
Oh. Oh, crap.
DID HE JUST REPLY TO A THOUGHT?!
ETHAN PARK/ETHAN/MC'S ASSISTANT
*Walked in, smiling* Hey, you’re awake! Let’s get you out of here, boss!
Riven rubbed his temples.
ETHAN PARK/ETHAN/MC'S ASSISTANT
(…I hope he’s not mad at me. Should I buy him a cupcake? Do billionaires even eat cupcakes? Is that illegal for them?)
RIVEN HALE/RIVEN/MC
*Sighed* Ethan, I don’t need a cupcake.
ETHAN PARK/ETHAN/MC'S ASSISTANT
*Froze* …I never said anything about cupcakes?
Riven’s brain blue-screened.
RIVEN HALE/RIVEN/MC
*Grabbed Ethan’s shoulders* LISTEN TO ME, ETHAN. GET ME OUT OF THIS HOSPITAL BEFORE I LOSE MY MIND.
As they walked through the hospital, it got worse.
Nurse passing by: “…I’m so tired. I hope my boss steps on a Lego.”
Man in a wheelchair: “…If my wife asks, I totally didn’t eat that burger.”
Little girl in the hallway: “…The man in the suit looks like a villain.”
Riven clenched his jaw.
HE WAS GOING TO LOSE IT.
They reached the reception desk.
The nurse smiled. “Alright, Mr. Hale, just sign here—”
Her thoughts whispered: “…He’s so hot.”
Riven stopped.
His pen hovered over the paper.
He slowly looked up at her.
She smiled again. “Something wrong?”
(…I am at work. I should be professional. I should NOT think about his abs. STOP THINKING ABOUT HIS ABS—)
RIVEN HALE/RIVEN/MC
*Stood up so fast his chair fell over* ETHAN, WE ARE LEAVING
As they got into the car, Riven leaned back, eyes dead inside.
