One Month to Love
It was Christmas Eve, 2020.
Sean, a battle-hardened soldier on leave.
Walked into a small café in New York City.
The place smelled like cinnamon and freshly brewed coffee, and warm lights flickered against snowy windowpanes.
He only had a month before he returned to his duty.
One month to feel normal again.
And then he met her—Clara.
They both pump each other on their way to the cashier.
The book scattered all over the wooden floor as she was trying to pick one by one.
Clara
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry! Let me pick up—"
Sean chuckle and Smile at her.
Sean
"It's alright, we both didn't see that coming, let me help you instead"
Sean helps Clara with her books as her gaze on him.
She feels fuzzy in her stomach, something like a butterfly?
Clara
"Thank you so much, the librarian could kill me if she finds out about the book"
Sean
"Kill you? For scattered books?"
Clara
"Yes, she is very, very protective over the book on the library, if one book is broken or ripped, she goes mad"
Sean
"oh wow, that's scary, but you're lucky, the book hasn't broken or ripped"
They both look at each other.
Clara
"So, you come here often?"
Sean
"Me? Well, not often on my duty but since it's Christmas Eve, so I take a break from it, how about you?"
Clara
"I come here often, they had the best cinnamon roll in here, even if it's small, it feels cozy, right?"
Sean
"Hey, would you like me to buy you a drink? let's just say, for your payment?"
Clara smiles warmly at him.
Clara
"Of course, I would love that"
