Minakshi sat cross-legged on her bed, staring at her phone. The rain outside had slowed to a faint drizzle, but inside, her mind was a storm
She scrolled through her chat with Abhay, reading and rereading their messages. His jokes, his late-night ramblings about music, the way he always found the perfect thing to say when she was having a bad day.
Was she overthinking it? Was she reading too much into their moments—the way his fingers had brushed against her skin when he tucked her hair behind her ear? The way his eyes lingered on her, even when they weren’t speaking?
She sighed, tossing her phone onto her pillow and rubbing her face

Frowning, she switched apps. A notification appeared. "Abhay shared a playlist with you."
Curious, she tapped on it
The first song was one she had mentioned loving months ago. She barely remembered telling him, yet here it was. The next was one they had argued over—she had sworn it was overrated, and he had vowed to make her see the light
And then, the third song started playing.
A love song. Soft, slow, dripping with emotion.
Her breath caught.
She checked the rest of the playlist. It wasn’t random. Every song had a pattern—some reminded her of their inside jokes, some carried lyrics about longing, some… about love, about them, their moments

She hesitated, her heart racing

The typing bubble appeared. Disappeared. Reappeared
Then, her phone started ringing.
She stared at it for a second before answering
Both of their voices lower than usual mixed with lots of thoughts and feelings
There was a pause, the soft static of the call filling the silence

She licked her lips, sitting up against her pillows

she shot back, though her fingers gripped the blanket beneath her.
Abhay exhaled, and when he spoke again, there was a small edge of vulnerability in his voice

With the phone pressed to her ear and his playlist playing softly in the background, she closed her eyes and let the music speak the words neither of them had been able to say
