Park Seo-joon felt his chest tighten with frustration and worry. He’d watched Taehyung grow up, after all. That stubborn kid—sharp-tongued, proud, and impossible not to love—had always made people feel protective of him. Back when he first came to Night, he wasn’t even sixteen. A stunning little thing, street-smart with the sweetest mouth, charming everyone into teaching him their tricks.
Seo-joon had been afraid something would happen to him, so he never let Taehyung work the front. The kid had too much beauty, and the world had too many predators. With a twenty-year age gap between them, Taehyung might’ve called him hyung, but in Seo-joon's eyes, he was the son he and Hyung-sik could never have.
So when Taehyung had walked out of Night so decisively, with that clear-cut attitude of wanting a fresh start, Seo-joon had been devastated. That night, drunk and bitter, he’d texted something cruel:
Park Seo-joon
“Screw it. I, Park Seo-joon, have been around the block too many times to be hurt by a brat like you. If you’re so ashamed of us, then don’t bother looking back. You go your way, I go mine. Let’s see if you can make it without crawling back.”
But when Taehyung actually did call him today—just a few soft words, sounding almost like the boy he once was—Seo-joon melted instantly. What grudge could possibly hold up against that?
