ASHES OF THE CROWN (Taekook)
The chain of fates
The great halls of Eldoria were filled with hushed murmurs, a kingdom at war now forced into an uneasy alliance. Jungkook stood in the center of her new prison, her wrists unbound yet heavier than shackles. The weight of expectation pressed upon her, the sneering gazes of nobles and warriors alike burning into her skin.
A golden throne loomed before her. Upon it sat Taehyung, the prince of Eldoria—her new husband, hers sworn enemy. The man who had every reason to despise her. And yet, Taehyung’s expression was unreadable, a cold mask sculpted from years of discipline and duty.
Prince Taehyung
You stand here today, not as a prisoner, but as a consort to the royal family of Eldoria,
(Taehyung announced, his voice smooth yet commanding).
A fate many would call mercy.

(Jungkook clenched her fists). Mercy? You call this mercy? My people rot in chains while I am paraded as a trophy.
A murmur rippled through the room, but Taehyung remained unfazed
Prince Taehyung
You are no trophy, Jungkook. You are a key. One that determines whether war ends or begins anew.
Jungkook’s breath hitched. She had spent years on the battlefield, spilling blood for a kingdom that no longer existed. Now, she was expected to stand beside the very people who had burned it to the ground

And if I refuse?
(she challenged, her voice a whisper of defiance).
Taehyung rose from his throne, stepping forward until he was mere inches away. The scent of steel and lavender clung to him, an odd contradiction

Then you will watch what remains of Euphoria be reduced to nothing.
A silence so thick it strangled the air between them. Jungkook’s heart pounded, anger and despair colliding in his chest. She had no choice. She never did.
The wedding ceremony was a spectacle of control rather than celebration. Draped in royal attire, Jungkook stood beside Taehyung, reciting vows that felt like a dagger twisting in her ribs. The court cheered, but beneath the surface, resentment festered.
When the ceremony concluded, the newlyweds were escorted to their chamber. The heavy doors shut behind them, locking them in a prison of silk and stone.
Jungkook turned away, hands trembling as she unfastened the heavy robes that felt like a cage.

This changes nothing.
Prince Taehyung
(Taehyung leaned against the door, arms crossed). I never said it did
princes kookie
(Jungkook let out a humorless chuckle) Then what now, my prince? Do we pretend? Do we smile for the court while sharpening knives behind our backs?
Prince Taehyung
(Taehyung’s gaze darkened)
We survive, Jungkook. And if you are wise, you will learn that survival is the only war worth winning
Jungkook met his gaze, fire flickering in his own. A war indeed, but not the kind fought with swords.
And in this war, neither of them could afford to lose
