A Light From Afar

A Light From Afar

A Light From Afar

I knew the storms you faced before,

The battles fought behind closed doors.

I saw the weight you tried to hide,

The silent tears, the weary sighs.

You wore your past like heavy chains,

A heart once torn by endless pain.

I knew your scars, I felt your fear,

Yet still, I longed to hold you near.

But love is not a selfish thing,

It’s not a cage, nor tied with strings.

So when I saw the weight I gave,

I chose to leave, my heart enslaved.

Not because I cared you less,

But because I wished you happiness.

I’d rather fade into the night,

Than be the shadow dimming your light.

Yet even now, though I am gone,

My silent prayers still linger on.

I do not need to stand beside,

To be the warmth in which you hide.

I’ll be the breeze on summer days,

The morning sun’s first golden rays.

The quiet hush of midnight air,

A whispered wish, a silent prayer.

And if one day, you feel me near,

A fleeting touch, a drop, a tear—

Know my love was always true,

Even when I walked from you.

"Some people enter our lives like a Distant Star—Shining Brightly, guiding us through the Dark. But not every Light is meant to stay Close.

My relationship with Him was like that—a Warmth I cherished from Afar, a Connection that felt real yet remained distant. This poem captures the bittersweet beauty of loving someone who was never truly within reach."
