You’re terrible at staying put.
Amara Solène
[Smirks] And you’re terrible at pretending not to care.
Kael Drayven
It’s my job to care.
Amara Solène
Is it just your job, though?
Amara Solène
Kael, you could’ve walked away at any point. Why are you still here?
Kael Drayven
[Avoids her gaze] Because I won’t fail you.
Amara Solène
Fail me? What are you talking about?
Kael Drayven
[Hesitates] The last Muse I protected… I couldn’t save her.
Kael Drayven
I made a promise to never let that happen again.
Amara Solène
And what if I don’t want you to see me as just another job?
(Kael looks at her, startled. Their eyes meet, the tension palpable.)
Amara Solène
