Eliot woke up to the soft beeping of a monitor and the feeling of silk sheets beneath him.
Peeling back his eyelids, he was greeted to the sight of a dimly lit room where the only light source was from the drawn curtains to his left. The massive four-poster bed he was lying on was draped in white sheets with flowy curtains covering three of the sides. An IV drip hung from a hook beside the bed, it's wire connecting to his hand letting the saline solution---he assumed---flow into his bloodstream while another wire was connected to a monitor to record his heart rate. Apart from a few other things, which he couldn't properly make out because of the poor lighting, the room was otherwise empty.
The incidents from the previous day flooded back which caused the monitor start beeping loudly, indicating his increased heart rate. The door opened revealing a doctor, Eliot assumed by his lab coat and the tablet in his hand, walked in with the black-haired guy following closely behind.
"You're awake!", the doctor observed, his red eyes behind the glasses shone with kindness and the easy smile on his face immediately put Eliot at ease despite him finding himself in unfamiliar territory.
"You had lost a lot of blood", at this he paused to glare at the guy, "but apart from that, nothing else seems to be wrong. You probably fainted due to shock. I've already given you a blood transfusion, so you'll be back on your feet in no time."
Eliot barely managed to get out one word through his dry throat, "W...wa...ter".
"Ah, my apologies", the doctor looked apologetic, "you're probably thirsty. Dian, hand him the glass of water" and with that he went to check the monitor while the dark-haired guy, Dian, helped him sit up and handed him a glass of water which had been sitting on a portable table a bit away from the equipments.
Only after finishing the glass did Eliot ask, "Where am I... and... who are you'll?"
"I don't think that's neces-", the doctor started, but was cut off by Dian,
"You're in the base of the Aldrich clan and I'm sure you must've figured it out by now but just in case, we're vampires".
Eliot had figured out that much. Putting two and two together wasn't hard, not after seeing Dian's fangs while he'd fed on him back in Mr. Dan's bar. He wondered idly as to why he was alive and getting treatment instead of being drained dry like the victims in the books he'd read.
Since Dian specified the clan's name, Eliot assumed that there must be more clans which meant that there must be a considerable number of their kind out there coexisting with humans secretly.
The doctor checked the machines around and jotted something in his clipboard, "You won't be needing any of these machines anymore.", he declared with a small smile at Eliot, "You just need to get plenty of rest and nutritions".
"If you are done here, you may leave us now Dr. Colt", Dian said curtly, "If he has more questions, I'll take care of them".
Dr. Colt just hummed and left the room, head still bent over the clipboard.
