That brat, she'll see what I'm capable of.

"Good morning, girl," my mother says, looking at her as if she saw an angel, the ideal girl.

"Are you new here?" my dad asks.

"And what does it matter if she's new, she's just an employee." The girl tenses up, you can tell she wants to fire off a few words at my wife.

"She works on my farm, for me, and I need to know who the people I hire are," my dad says in a very annoyed tone.

"Sir, I've been working here for three years," she says, looking at me with a face that says she doesn't like me, and I remain serious, but I like that attitude, I love this girl.

"Do you have family here?"

"Good morning, sorry to interrupt," Wilfred says, entering the dining room with another boy.

"Wilfred, good morning," Mom says. "I was asking the girl if she has family here."

"Yes, ma'am, she is the daughter of Ulises Leroy." She remains silent and I see her exchange glances with the boy.

"It shows we haven't been here in a long time," Dad says.

"And your dad? Is he still working for us?"

"No, ma'am, Dad is very sick." And I notice nostalgia in her words.

"Oh! I'm sorry," Mom says, continuing to serve breakfast, but I see that the boy can't stop looking at her.

"And he is?" I ask, annoyed by how he's looking at Jazmin, and I don't understand why.

"Mr. Rene, he is my son Sebastian." I nod and see that Jazmin walks to the kitchen and the boy tells her something in a very low voice before she leaves, she nods and leaves.

It seems to me that they are in love or maybe they are dating, but let's see how much they love each other.

"Wilfred, can you wait for me to have breakfast so you can take me to the fields." Wilfred nods, he has been working for my family for years, but I haven't seen him much since that night I found Dad in this place with his lover.

A while later I'm in the fields with Wilfred and Sebastian.

"Son, go do what I asked you to do, they have to make that shipment today." Sebastian nods and leaves.

"I need to know something."

"Yes sir, tell me."

"Stop treating me like that, you used to call me by my name."

"Okay, tell me what you want to know?"

"What does Ulises have?"

"He is sick, he has lung cancer." I feel a little sorry, but I think I have the upper hand. I know I'm a bastard sometimes, but I want to test that girl. When I act like this, I know I have earned hell, but I'm used to getting my way.

Although I don't think that girl is as innocent as she looks, I can even bet that she has already slept with that Sebastian guy.

"And the daughter, she works for him, I imagine."

"She is the support of her house, she is the only one who works to support her family, she has two jobs and even so, they haven't been able to do anything to save Ulises."

"So she's not studying?"

"No, she finished her secondary studies and couldn't continue."

Wilfred told me everything I wanted to know about the bad-tempered Jazmin. The name doesn't suit her, I think she should have been called Bitterness or something like that, but it doesn't matter, she'll see how I break her. She's going to ask for more than I'll give her. I spent almost the whole morning in the fields, at lunchtime, I go to the farm.

"Son, everything okay?"

"Yes, I like how they work, everything is fine out there, I'll review some accounting books of the shipments, I know Wilfred keeps everything in order, but it doesn't hurt to review."

"No son, Wilfred doesn't handle that, Sebastian, his son, is doing it."

I remain silent, I nod and with more reason I will review them.

"I understand, I'll review them anyway."

"That sounds good." At that moment I see Jazmin or baptized by me as Bitterness, enters and starts serving.

"Your wife has been locked up," Mom says.

"The best thing is to send her to Paris," my dad tells me.

"I'll stay a few more days, and yes, the best thing is for her to leave, I can't stand her tantrums." At that moment, the little girl drops a glass of water on me, I'm not stupid, I know she did it on purpose, so with that we have, I'll make her believe that I believe in her innocence.
