Extermination

(Edgar POV)

The next morning, we arrived at the Guild. Besides the three of us, there were three other workers who took part in this task. Two of them are Dino and Rocky who appear to be still at loggerheads.

"Six people, it seems like everyone has gathered."

Asked a blue haired man coming out of the United building. He was seen carrying a sword that he placed on his waist, and a bracelet that indicated he was a silver class worker.

"Hey, you there"

Asked the man to me.

"Where are your weapon?"

He asked again.

"I keep it, no need to worry" (Edgar)

"Yes whatever. If so, let's all get on the carriage"

Said the man with blue hair.

All workers climbed into the horse carriage. We went to Kiwi Village.

The trip feels smooth, there are no monsters, and no robbers are blocking. Until we arrived at Kiwi Village during the day.

Arriving there, there were five other horse carriages, it seemed they were workers from another Guild. When I saw their bracelet, no one wore a bracelet with an iron emblem.

On average they use Copper emblems, and some have Silver emblems. And they all look excited.

"You two! I don't care what your problem is, but if you don't work properly, your wages will be deducted"

Said the blue-haired man to Rocky and Dino.

"Let's all gather"

Said the man with blue hair, commanded the six of us.

After we gathered, he said

"I have heard from the surveillance team. They say the Locusts will arrive here this afternoon, so for now, please get ready"

"My name is Zeff, why did I say it? Because there are two new members who don't know me yet,"

"And now there is a supervisory meeting that I have to attend, you better not do anything strange, or I cut your wages"

Then, a man calls me

"You're a wood class worker, why are you taking part in this assignment?" (Edgar)

"Yes, the work for the wood class is up, so I'm forced to take this job" (Enju)

"Oh ..." (Edgard)

"By the way, where's the girl you were with?" (Enju)

"Moa?" (Edgar)

When I looked around, I did not see Moa and four other people. Then, I saw them gather in front of a statue of a man in armor. Enju and I approached them.

"What statue is this?"

Ask Enju.

"That is the Kiwi Knight Statue"

Replied an old man behind us.

"Kiwi Knights?" (Enju)

"Yes, right. Once every forty years, big pests come to this village," (old grandfather)

"And the person who defeated him will get the title of the Kiwi Knight" (Old Grandpa)

"hopefully that big Pests will not come this time"

Said the old grandfather, who then left us.

"Interesting, I'll beat the Big Pest, and I'll take the title"

Said Rocky with confidence.

"You? I will get the title"

Reply Dino.

Seeing their behavior, Enju said

"Is it only me who thinks that the big pest sounds scary?"

In the afternoon, the odd workers gathered in the designated place. Then, the mist slowly moves towards them from the front.

"Everyone Get ready! They are coming!"

I also took out the sword from my inventory, the sword was the sword I used against the bandits yesterday.

Because I was doubtful about Enju and Moa, I was near them, in the back row.

And seen the locusts as large as goats flying towards us like waves in the ocean. The workers attacked the locust with their weapons. Because of the large number of locusts, not a few numbers of locusts escaped from the workers in the front row.

From a distance it was seen that the old man who met Edgar in front of the Statue, was sitting among the displaced residents.

"They look excited"

Said the old man with a smile.

"I hope they know, why those Pest is called the Sickle Locusts" (old man)

Returning to the odd workers, two sickles appeared behind the wings of an adult locust as they flew close to the odd workers.

When Rocky slashes his sword into a locust's sickle, Rocky manages to cut it, however, his sword immediately cracks.

"What?! My sword?!"

Rocky asked in his heart when he saw the crack on his sword.

"Don't target their sickle! Aim for his head"

Shouted a royal soldier.

"Why don't you say it before !!!"

Rocky shouted, looking annoyed

While Hakar who had cut off the head of an adult locust said in his heart.

"Damn, their shell is very hard. If this continues, my energy can run out" (Hakar)

After they defeated some of the adult locusts, there was a strange sound from above the sky.

The old man who met Edgar was seen sitting, and eating a snack.

"They are called big pests not because of their large size, but because they eat smaller pests"

Said the old man.

"I was lucky to only meet one big pest." (Old man)

Then, it was seen a giant mantis landed in front of odd workers, about twenty meters in front of them.

With his scythe, the giant Mantis pierces the body of the adult Locust, then eats it.

"Thats too big!!!"

Dino shouted when he saw the giant mantis in front of him.

"Is that a big pest?"

Edgar asked.

The army warrior commanded the Spellcasters to attack the giant mantis.

"Fire a light cannon !!!" (soldier)

The Spellcasters fired light cannons with their sticks. All the light cannons fired successfully hit the giant mantis, and caused explosions which gave rise to thick smoke.

"Did it work?"

Zeff asked, who stood in the back row.

After the smoke on the body of the mantis faded, it appeared that the mantis was still standing without the slightest wound.

"Impossible, that was a silver class Spellcaster attack"

Said one of the Spellcaster.

Edgar who was challenged to defeat the mantis calling the Spellcaster in front of him.

"Hey you," (Edgar).

After the Spellcaster turned, Edgar said to him

"Fire your light cannon at me" (Edgar)

"What?"

Asked the Spellcaster.

Then, Edgar appeared running while carrying a blazing sword, with both hands.

Seeing Edgar running past him, Hakar asked in his heart

"Mr. Edgar?! What are you doing?!"

After the distance was felt close enough, Edgar jumped towards giat mantis and swung his sword at it head.

"HA!!!"

Edgar shouted while in the air.

DUAR !!!

There was an explosion, accompanied by thick smoke on the head of the mantis. And it looks like Edgar jumped back from the head of the locust.

After Smoke disappeared, a small wound like a crack in the mantis head was seen.

"Damn, it's still lacking" (Edgar)

Suddenly several adult locusts attacked Edgar with their scythes. Because he was busy dealing with the locusts, Edgar was not aware of the mantis to stick his sickle from above.

Luckily Edgar managed to avoid the sickle that pierced the ground in front of him.

However, very quickly, the mantis dragged its sickle forward and hit Edgar in front of him. Even though he managed to fend it off, Edgar's body crashed far enough past the odd jobs.

"Mr. Edgar!!!"

Moa shouted, who then chased Edgar.

Then, there were two other giant mantis landing beside the first giant mantis.

Seeing that, Rocky said in a desperate tone

"You must be kidding" (Rocky)

"So, what are you going to do now, odd Workers?"

Said the old man who sat while holding a glass of drink.
