Chase the Midnight Moon (Taekook) Episode 1: "Shadows of the Past"

The night sky was bathed in the soft, silvery light of the full moon. The Crescent Moon Pack's territory stretched out in the distance, a forest of towering trees whose shadows seemed to move with the wind. The air was still, thick with the promise of something ominous lurking just beyond the edge of sight.

From a cliff high above the forest, Taehyung, the Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, stood alone. His sharp, observant eyes scanned the horizon, and though the night was beautiful, there was a weight on his heart. The world seemed at peace, but something about tonight felt different. His wolf stirred beneath his skin, restive and uneasy.

Taehyung’s gaze sharpened. His instincts were never wrong. He shifted slightly, his wolf form already lingering just below the surface, ready to surface at a moment’s notice.

In the distance, the howls of a rival pack echoed through the forest. Taehyung’s jaw clenched, his grip tightening on the rocky ledge. But there was something else. Something that tugged at his senses.

Meanwhile, deep within the forest, Jungkook—Taehyung’s fated mate—wandered, his mind quiet but his body on high alert. The woods were usually his refuge, but tonight, an unfamiliar pull drew him deeper. His senses, finely tuned as a wolf, picked up something in the air. A strange, magnetic force that seemed to guide him forward.

A voice echoed in his mind, sharp and filled with concern.

(in his mind): "Jungkook, stay close. Something's wrong."

Jungkook paused, the words momentarily halting him in his tracks. The pull was stronger now, and he shook off the unease creeping along his spine.

(to himself): "I’ll be fine, Taehyung. Just a few more steps."

He pressed forward, the night thick with mystery.

Taehyung’s body tensed as his senses flared. Jungkook’s heartbeat—quick and uneven—echoed in his mind. His mate was in danger.

Without a second thought, Taehyung dropped from the cliff, shifting into his wolf form midair. His body flowed into the ground, and within seconds, he was running through the forest at full speed, his fur ruffled in the wind as his paws struck the earth with a rhythmic beat. The bond between them pulled at him, strong and unbreakable.

Jungkook found himself in a small, hidden clearing. The moonlight bathed the ground in a gentle glow, and at its center lay a glowing red stone—its presence both beautiful and foreboding. Drawn to it, Jungkook knelt down to touch it, curiosity overriding his instincts. The moment his fingers brushed against the stone, a sharp, magical surge filled the air, and a barrier of glowing energy erupted around him.

Jungkook's eyes widened in panic. His heart raced as the barrier tightened around him, cutting him off from the outside world.

(shouting): "Taehyung! Help!"

Taehyung’s senses locked onto Jungkook’s frantic heartbeat. His mate’s fear was unmistakable, and he pushed himself harder, his claws digging into the earth. As he neared the clearing, he slowed, noticing the dark figures emerging from the shadows.

Lee Jiwon, the Alpha of the rival Bloodfang Pack, stood calmly at the edge of the clearing. A smile twisted his lips, dark and dangerous. His eyes flicked toward Jungkook, and then back to Taehyung. Beside him stood Seo Rina, the sorceress who had been working in secret to weaken the Crescent Moon Pack’s defenses.

Jiwon’s voice was cold, but there was a sense of amusement in it.

Lee Jiwon

(smirking): "Taehyung, always so protective of your little mate. But does he know the truth? That you're not the true leader of this territory? That you don't deserve to rule?"

Taehyung’s eyes narrowed, fury rising in his chest. His protective instincts flared, and he shifted back to his human form, every muscle in his body tight with tension.

(growling): "You’ll regret this, Jiwon. The Crescent Moon Pack is stronger than you think. You’ll never break us."

Lee Jiwon

(mocking): "Strength is only a matter of perspective. And you, Taehyung, are far weaker than you realize."

Rina, standing silently by Jiwon’s side, raised her hands, calling on her magic. The air grew thick with power, crackling as she manipulated the barrier around Jungkook, tightening it with a sneer.

Rina

(coldly): "You can’t save him, Alpha. You’re too late."

Jungkook’s eyes were wide with fear, but beneath it, he felt the strong, unwavering presence of Taehyung. He could hear the sounds of his mate’s footsteps approaching, and the bond between them burned brighter, giving him a sense of comfort amidst the terror.

Without hesitation, Taehyung lunged forward, his hands outstretched toward the barrier. His claws dug into the magical energy, pushing back against Rina’s spell. With a fierce roar, he shattered the barrier, the magical energy cracking and dissipating into the air.

Jungkook stumbled forward, falling into Taehyung’s arms as the barrier broke completely.

Jeon Jungkook

(shaky): "Taehyung... please...

Taehyung gathered him close, his eyes never leaving Jiwon and Rina. His wolf growled low, the protective urge stronger than ever.

(firmly): "No one will ever hurt you, Jungkook.

As Taehyung moved to shield Jungkook, Kang Seokhyun, a traitor from within the Crescent Moon Pack, stepped from the shadows, his eyes cold and calculating. He observed the situation with quiet amusement, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Taehyung’s gaze flickered to the shadow, and his instincts screamed at him. But before he could act, Rina, realizing the battle was lost for now, quickly backed away, her lips curling into a cryptic smile.

Rina

(whispering): "This is just the beginning, Alpha. We will come for you, for him... and everything you hold dear."

Taehyung held Jungkook tightly as the danger slowly faded. The clearing was silent now, but the tension remained thick in the air. The threat was far from over. Their enemies had made their first move, and it wouldn’t be the last.

Jungkook clung to Taehyung, still shaken, but comforted by the unyielding strength of his mate.

(softly): "I was scared..."
