Meeting the nemesis
"A flying slipper soared through the air, and a girl swiftly dodged it."
Freya
"Look, it's not my fault this time!"
woman
"So whose fault is it then? Mine?" a woman said angrily.
Freya
"Nah, of course not... well, maybe it is."
woman
"What does that even mean?"
The woman threw another slipper, but Freya dodged it again and ran to the balcony, sitting precariously on the balcony rail.
Freya
"If you throw one more thing at me, I swear I'll jump off this balcony!"
woman
"I dare you to jump! And don't worry, I'll make sure to break your legs too!"
woman
"Freya!" the woman shouted in an angry tone.
Freya
"I mean it, I'll do it!" Freya replied nervously.
woman
"Freya Harrington Navarro! If you don't come down right this instant, I will personally break both your legs!" the woman said with a furious glare and a warning tone.
Freya
"Yes, ma'am!" Freya replied quickly, stepping away from the balcony rail.
The woman hurled another slipper, and this time, it hit Freya square in the face.
Freya
"Ouch, my face!" Freya exclaimed, rubbing her cheek.
woman
"Come to the living room. I want to talk to you," that woman said in an angry tone.
Freya followed her into the living room, her head hanging low.
Freya
"You must be wondering how I ended up in this situation, right? Let me tell you a story—a story as old as time."
When Freya and Amelie returned from Belgium, Freya's phone started ringing. It was her mother.
Amélie Freya best friend
"What are you going to do now?" Amelie asked, her expression filled with worry.
Freya froze, staring at her phone for a moment, then slowly turned her eyes toward Amelie.
Amélie Freya best friend
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Amelie asked, confused.
Freya glanced at her phone and then back at Amelie, silently signaling her to take the call.
Amélie Freya best friend
"No way! I’m ready to face hell with you, but I’m not answering that call," Amelie said, shaking her head rapidly.
Freya
"Please," Freya begged, tilting her head slightly, her teeth clenched.
Amélie Freya best friend
"Nope! Don’t drag me into your problems," Amelie replied, raising her hands in protest.
Finally, Freya summoned the courage and answered the call.
Freya
"Hello, Mom," Freya said, her expression a mix of fear and resignation.
Freya
"And that’s how I got here," Freya said with a sigh.
Eulalia Navarro
"So, you got fired again?" Eulalia asked Freya, raising an eyebrow.
Freya
"I didn’t get fired—I resigned," Freya replied quickly, almost defensively.
Eulalia Navarro
"That doesn’t change the fact that you still lost your job," Eulalia shot back.
Freya
"But this time, it’s not completely my fault. I’m the victim here," Freya protested.
Eulalia Navarro
"In your first job, you broke your boss’s arm just because he asked you to do a little more work than usual."
Freya
"I was young back then! I’ve learned from that incident—I haven’t beaten up a boss since," Freya replied without hesitation.
Eulalia Navarro
"In your second job, you beat up your manager’s girlfriend."
Freya
"She made me do things that weren’t part of my job description!" Freya retorted.
Eulalia Navarro
"Well... that’s fair," Eulalia admitted with a shrug.
Eulalia Navarro
"And in your third job, you beat up two young men. A week later, you did the same to another girl."
Freya
"They were harassing my colleague, and that girl ate my chocolate cake," Freya explained, trying to sound justified.
Eulalia Navarro
"For harassing your colleague, you should’ve broken their arms," Eulalia replied sternly.
Freya
"Exactly! That deserved it. But you told me not to beat people too badly if I got into trouble," Freya replied proudly.
Eulalia Navarro
"And what about the girl and the cake?"
Freya
"Well… about that, I admit I was at fault," Freya replied, lowering her head in shame.
Eulalia Navarro
"So, what happened this time?"
Freya
"Well, as with all those incidents in the past, I was never at fault. So, I’m the victim this time too," Freya declared confidently.
Eulalia Navarro
"Freya," Eulalia said with an angry glare.
Freya
"Look, Mom, you must take your daughter’s side because I’m not at fault this time either!" Freya argued.
Eulalia Navarro
"Freya Harrington Navarro," Eulalia said coldly, her warning gaze cutting through Freya’s excuses.
Freya
"So, my boyfriend, Harry, was cheating on me with his old friend, Laura. I found out and smashed a wine bottle on his head. Later that night, I got drunk and ended up beating another guy who tried to flirt with me. The next day, I was late to the office, where my boss called me in. Harry’s mother was also there, demanding that I apologize to Harry and her properly. But I didn’t. I got angry, and... I resigned," Freya explained in one breath, the words tumbling out at lightning speed.
Freya
"That’s all! As you can see, in this story, I’m totally innocent," she declared with dramatic conviction.
Eulalia sat silently, staring at Freya with an unreadable expression.
Freya
"Are you not going to say anything, Mom?" Freya asked, forcing a nervous smile.
Eulalia Navarro
"No more sugar," Eulalia said coldly, her tone final.
Freya
"What?! You’re taking away my sugar privileges for this? That’s against human rights! This is cruelty against an innocent person like me. I could take you to court for this, Mom!" Freya protested, her voice rising with feigned indignation, though her expression betrayed her nervousness.
Eulalia Navarro
"Wanna pick a fight?" Eulalia asked with a sharp smile.
Freya
"No, not at all! How could I?" Freya replied, immediately surrendering with a nervous laugh.
random person
"Oh, hello! What’s going on here?" a voice interrupted.
Both Freya and Eulalia turned toward the source of the voice, startled.
