Unhappy Past
chapter 1: Reunion
Alex's eyes met Ethan's, tension palpable. "What brings you here?" she asked, her voice measured.
Ethan's gaze locked onto hers. "I'm speaking at the gala. My company's sponsoring it."
Alex's expression narrowed. "That's quite a leap from your college days."
Ethan's smile hinted at unresolved tension. "Life's taken surprising turns."
They sat together at the bar, sipping drinks. Secrets unfolded. Ethan's company had been hiding something.
"Ethan, this changes everything," Alex said, her voice laced with curiosity.
Ethan's eyes widened. "Our pasts are connected," he revealed, his voice barely above a whisper.
Alex's face paled. "How?" she asked, her eyes searching.
Ethan leaned in. "Our families' histories intertwine. My company's involved in something big."
Alex's grip on her glass tightened. "What do you mean?"
Ethan hesitated. "I'm not sure yet. But I need your help to uncover the truth."
Alex's eyes narrowed. "Why should I trust you, Ethan?"
Ethan's expression turned sincere. "I know I hurt you, Alex. But I've changed. I want to make amends."
Alex's voice dropped to a whisper. "Amends? After all these years?"
Ethan nodded. "I was young and stupid. Now I understand what truly matters."
Alex's curiosity sparked. "Tell me more about our families' connection."
Ethan leaned in closer. "Our parents were business partners. Something went terribly wrong."
Alex's eyes widened. "What happened?"
Ethan's voice was laced with determination. "That's what we need to find out."
Together, they vowed to uncover the truth. Their hands touched, sparking electricity.
Alex felt a flutter. "Ethan?"
He looked at her intensely. "I'm here."
Their bond grew stronger. They were no longer just acquaintances. They were allies.
As they walked out, the sun set behind them. The evening breeze rustled leaves.
Alex stopped. "Look!" she exclaimed. A hidden path unfolded before them.
"Where does it lead?" Alex asked, her eyes sparkling.
Ethan shrugged. "Only one way to find out."
They ventured down the path, hearts pounding. Trees grew taller, casting shadows.
Alex's grip on Ethan's hand tightened. "I'm scared."
Ethan wrapped his arm around her. "I'm here."
The path opened up to a clearing. An old mansion stood before them.
Alex gasped. "This must be it."
Ethan nodded. "The truth."
They stepped forward, hearts racing. The mansion creaked, secrets waiting.
Inside, they found a room filled with letters, photographs and secrets.
Alex's eyes widened. "This is it."
Ethan smiled. "The truth."
Together, they uncovered secrets. Their families' pasts, intertwined. Lies, deceit and love.
Alex's eyes met Ethan's. "Akashi—"
"I'm here," Ethan replied.
Their bond grew stronger. They stood together, hands entwined.
As they walked away from the mansion, the evening breeze whispered secrets.
Their lives would never be the same. The truth had set them free.
But also opened new doors. To secrets, lies and love.
Their journey was far from over. But together, they were ready.
"We need to talk to your parents," Ethan said.
Alex's face glowed with determination. "Let's do it."
They stood tall, united. Ready to face whatever lay ahead.
The door creaked open. Alex's parents stood before them.
"Alex, what's going on?" her mother asked.
Alex's voice trembled. "We know the truth."
Her father's eyes narrowed. "What truth?"
Alex's grip on Ethan's hand tightened. "Our families' secrets."
The room fell silent.
Alex's mother stepped forward. "Alex, we—"
"We need to know everything," Alex interrupted.
Her parents exchanged a glance. "Very well," her father said.
And so, they began to tell them. The truth, finally revealed.
Secrets, lies and love. It was all there.
Now, they knew. They were one step closer.
To uncovering the truth. And finding their way.
Together.
