Namjoon had been mustering up the courage to ask Mr. Kim a question, his mind racing with anticipation. Finally, he took a deep breath and posed his inquiry. But to his surprise, Mr. Kim burst out laughing, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
Mr. Kim
You didn't have to be so nervous about asking.
Mr. Kim said, while chuckling. *
Namjoon's face flushed with embarrassment, but he couldn't help smiling at his own unnecessary hesitation.
Mr. Kim
Today is Friday, which means Sunday is just around the corner," Mr. Kim said with a smile. "I was thinking, why don't you bring both young masters home with you? We have a family tradition of going on a picnic every weekend, and this Sunday is no exception. It would be wonderful if you could join us this time."
Namjoon's face lit up with a bright smile as he nodded enthusiastically
By inviting them on a weekend picnic, Mr. Kim skillfully defused the awkwardness, putting Namjoon at ease. The formal invitation alleviated Namjoon's tension, replacing his anxiety with relief. He no longer worried about imposing on the Kim family or receiving an unfavorable response. With the invitation extended, Namjoon felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
Namjoon settled into Kookie's room, gently laying down beside him. With a soothing touch, he began patting Kookie's back, his gentle strokes coaxing the younger boy into a peaceful slumber. As Kookie's eyelids grew heavy, Namjoon's calming presence enveloped him, lulling him into a serene sleep.
Kookie lay there, wide awake, wasn't excited or restless, just quietly alert, his mind still racing with the unspoken question: were they going to Kim's family's picnic or not?
Namjoon's gentle pats slowed, and he gazed down at Kookie's face, noticing that his eyes remained wide open. A faint furrow creased Kookie's brow, betraying his quiet contemplation. Namjoon's expression softened, and he whispered.

What's wrong, Kookie?

nodded as nothing*
Kookie nodded almost imperceptibly, his eyes still fixed on some invisible point, his expression a mask of quiet introspection. The gentle rise and fall of his chest was the only indication that he was still awake, lost in thought.
Namjoon chuckled lightly and caressed Kookie's head.

Sleep tight, we have to wake up early. We don't want to be late for Mr. Kim's, right?
Kookie's eyes snapped into focus, and he looked up at Namjoon. He nodded slightly, and his eyelids finally began to droop, the promise of a trip to Mr. Kim's home the next day apparently soothing his earlier concerns. With a soft sigh, Kookie snuggled deeper into the pillow, his breathing slowing as he drifted off to sleep.
