Why are you asking that we have always been just acquaintance, haven't we?
Alan's gaze lingers on hers, his mind racing with the implications of her words. He's always seen her as more, but he's never acknowledged it, not even to himself. The question hangs in the air, heavy with unspoken emotions.
Alan
Acquaintances. Right. Just acquaintances.
Maya just smiles at him and looks away.
Alan's hand twitches with the urge to reach out, to touch her, to feel the old warmth that used to radiate from her. But he hesitates, unsure of the new boundaries she had erected. Instead, he stands up abruptly, breaking the tense moment.
Alan
Well, it was...interesting seeing you again.
Alan finishes awkwardly, a rare hint of uncertainty flashing across his normally composed face. He adjusts his tie unnecessarily, buying time as he tries to reconcile the her before him with the memory of the girl who once proclaimed her love so desperately.
Maya stoods up with a smile.
Maya
Well..it was unexpected.
Alan nods, a faint smile tugging at his lips despite the turmoil within him. He takes a step back, putting some distance between them, as if afraid he might lose control and confess everything if he stays too close.
