Whispers of the Shadowed One
One rainy night, under a flickering street lamp in a narrow alley, the low murmur of voices cut through the sound of falling raindrops.
“Please… I’ve told you everything I know!” a man pleaded, his voice desperate.
Three towering figures stood over him, grinning with sinister intent, one raising his fist. But before the punch could land, an unsettling silence fell over them. They felt the presence before they saw him—a cloaked figure standing at the mouth of the alley, face hidden beneath a hood.
The thug leader sneered. “You’re in the wrong place, pal. Keep walking.”
The hooded man didn’t answer. Slowly, he stepped forward, his aqua eyes catching the dim light, giving off a faint, ethereal glow. Long strands of blonde hair slipped from his hood, but his face remained mostly hidden, his gaze piercing.
A heavy pause hung in the air before he spoke. “Let him go,” he commanded, his voice calm but filled with a silent promise of danger.
The thugs hesitated, unnerved, but their pride overpowered their caution. With a nod from their leader, they lunged toward him. In a blur of movement, the mysterious man struck, each blow precise and swift. The sound of scuffling filled the alley, and within seconds, the attackers were sprawled on the ground, defeated and groaning.
One thug managed to look up, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. “W-who…are you?”
The man said nothing. As he turned to walk away, he lowered his hood, revealing long blonde hair framing his chiseled, noble features and piercing aqua eyes that seemed to hold an ocean of secrets. Those who saw his face never forgot it, though few could find words to describe him.
The rescued man stared in shock and awe, still trembling. “Why…why did you help me?”
The man glanced back, his voice almost a whisper. “Sometimes the shadows have to protect the light.”
And with that, he melted into the shadows, leaving behind only the lingering mystery of the Shadowed One, a guardian unknown, who watched over the city when no one else would.
