chapter - 5
At Jin's place, Hobi was the first to arrive after wrapping up a mission. As soon as Namjoon opened the door, Hobi strolled in, looking exhausted but relieved.
Hoseok
"Hey, Namjoon. I’m so tired and starving. When are we eating?"
He asked, before flopping down dramatically on the couch.
Namjoon laughed, shaking his head.
Namjoon
"You're actually the first one here. We’re waiting for everyone to show up before we start."
Hoseok
"Of course. I should’ve known. Always waiting on these guys."
Namjoon sat down next to him.
Namjoon
“How was the mission? Everything go smoothly?”
Hoseok
"Yeah, went just as planned. Smooth and successful,"
Hoseok
I’m sure Jungkook and Taehyung are gonna be late again. I’m just gonna nap while we wait.
Namjoon
“Classic. Alright, you nap. I’ll help Jin in the kitchen.”
Hobi mumbled, already halfway to sleep.
Hoseok
"After I nap, I’ll go say hi to Jin."
Namjoon shook his head with a smile.
As Namjoon walked into the kitchen, Jin glanced up from the stove.
Seokjin
"Who was at the door?"
Namjoon leaning against the counter.
Namjoon
"He just got back from a mission. He’s exhausted and knocked out on the couch, taking a nap before we start dinner."
Seokjin
"Figures. Let him rest, then."
Namjoon smiled and stepped forward.
Namjoon
"Let me help you with this."
Jin raised an eyebrow but smiled softly.
Seokjin
"Alright, if you insist."
As they worked together in comfortable silence, the familiarity between them was clear. Namjoon and Jin had been the first in the group to tie the knot, their bond as steady as ever. While Namjoon was deeply entrenched in the mafia world, he kept Jin far from it, protecting him from the dangers and chaos that came with that life.
Jin, however, thrived in his own world. He managed a successful chain of restaurants, his focus fully on his business. It was something he built with passion, and Namjoon always admired Jin.
After an hour, Yoongi and Jimin arrived at Jin’s place. Namjoon opened the door and greeted them with a warm smile.
Namjoon
"Hey, Yoongi. Hey, Jimin."
As they stepped inside, Jimin looked around.
jimin
"Are we the first ones here?"
Namjoon
"Nope, Hobi's already here. He’s taking a nap."
jimin
"Mission went well?"
Namjoon
"Everything went as planned."
With that, Yoongi didn’t waste any time, heading straight for the couch and collapsing onto it with his eyes closed, completely unfazed.
Namjoon
"On the other couch, napping,"
Namjoon gesturing toward the living room. They walked in, and sure enough, on one couch, Hobi was asleep, and on the other, Yoongi had already settled in, eyes shut. Jimin laughed, eyeing Yoongi.
jimin
"Hyung, seriously? How many naps do you need? Didn’t you just take a nap before coming here?"
Without opening his eyes, Yoongi replied in his usual deadpan tone,
Yoongi
"This is the last one before dinner. Besides, you know Jungkook and Taehyung are gonna be late as always. Might as well make use of the time."
Namjoon laughed at Yoongi's logic, while Jimin rolled his eyes and decided to head toward the kitchen, Namjoon trailing behind him. When they entered the kitchen, Jimin grinned.
Jimin's eyes immediately drifted toward the food.
jimin
"So, what’s for dinner?"
His eyes scanned the dishes laid out, and he practically started drooling on the spot. Jin chuckled, noticing Jimin’s reaction.
Seokjin
"Careful, you’ll flood my kitchen. But yeah, the food’s almost ready. And don’t even get me started on Tae and Kook being late. I’m not going to let them off the hook this time."
jimin
(laughed)"Yes, hyung! Don’t let them get away with it,"
Yoongi and Jimin were the second couple in their group to get married. Jimin became part of the mafia world because Yoongi allowed him to do what he wanted and trained him to protect himself in any challenge.
After about 40 minutes, the doorbell rang, and Jimin was the one to open it. Standing there were Taehyung, smiling sheepishly, and Jungkook beside him, looking completely unbothered by the fact that they were late.
jimin
"So, what happened this time?"
Taehyung gave a nervous laugh.
kim Taehyung
"There was... so much traffic, hyung."
Jimin raised an eyebrow, glancing at Taehyung’s turtleneck.
jimin
"Yeah, your turtle neck is really telling me how much ‘traffic’ there was."
Taehyung dry-laughed, throwing a glare at Jungkook before pinching him on the arm.
Jungkook, however, just smiled and gently grabbed Taehyung’s hand, giving it a soft squeeze.
As they entered, they saw Hobi chatting with Namjoon while watching TV, Yoongi lying lazily on one of the sofas, and Jin sitting beside Namjoon. Jin’s eyes immediately locked onto Jungkook and Taehyung, his expression unimpressed.
kim Taehyung
"Hey, hyungs,"
kim Taehyung
"Hey, Jin hyung,"
Jungkook greeted everyone as well and made his way to another couch, acting as if nothing was amiss. Jin crossed his arms.
Seokjin
"Oh, you both finally arrived. Did you think dinner is tomorrow?"
kim Taehyung
"Hyung, we left on time, but our tire got punctured. We had to switch cars."
Jimin, still standing by the door, raised an eyebrow.
jimin
"Didn’t you just tell me there was traffic?"
kim Taehyung
"Y-Yes, yes! There was traffic too, hyung. It was... everything. Sorry, hyung. It’s all Jungkook’s fault."
At that, Jin shifted his gaze toward Jungkook.
Jungkook shrugged, keeping his calm demeanor.
Jeon Jungkook
"I left the base late. Some urgent work came up."
Seokjin
"I’m letting you off this time, but just this once."
kim Taehyung
"Next time, we’ll be the first to arrive, hyung. Promise."
Seokjin
"You’ve said that the last two times as well, Tae."
Taehyung just laughed nervously, knowing they’d never made it on time. Hobi, ever the peacemaker, clapped his hands.
Hoseok
"Alright, let’s eat. I’m starving!"
With that, everyone moved toward the dining table, ready to dig into the meal.
Everyone was enjoying dinner, talking and laughing as they had done countless times before.
These gatherings weren’t new to them—they had years of deep friendship, built over many shared meals and moments. They made it a point to have at least two or three get-togethers a month, despite their hectic lives.
Jungkook, Namjoon, hobi and Yoongi had been friends since middle school. Jungkook, the youngest of the three, was always treated with care by the others. His father had started a small gang in Russia, which slowly grew but at a gradual pace. Yoongi’s father, Jungkook's father's most trusted man and second in command, made Yoongi a constant presence in Jungkook’s life. As the only son, Jungkook was groomed for leadership, with Yoongi always by his side.
During middle school, Yoongi and Jungkook met Namjoon and Hobi, Namjoon father also ran a small gang. The four of them became inseparable, forming the foundation of their future ambitions. In high school, they met Jimin and Jin, who soon became part of their tight-knit group. Yoongi and Jimin eventually fell in love, and Namjoon and Jin also found each other, strengthening the bond among them. Throughout this time, Jungkook was always close with all five of them, trusting them completely.
As they grew older, Jungkook began his training to take over his father’s growing empire, and Yoongi, Hobi, and Namjoon trained alongside him. Even at a young age, Jungkook showed the traits of a powerful leader, and the four of them always knew they were destined to take control of the Russian underworld. With their combined strength and trust, they built Cosa Nostra, an empire that eventually became one of the most feared mafia organizations. Each of them also ran legitimate businesses to hide their operations from the outside world. Jimin, who had always been fascinated by mafia world, decided to join as well, eventually becoming Jungkook’s assistant.
The last addition to their group was Taehyung, a soft and kind omega they met during university. Jungkook quickly fell for the gentle omega, and soon, Taehyung became an essential part of their close-knit circle. With his soft nature and warm heart, Taehyung made a special place in the lives of everyone around him. His cheerful, caring personality endeared him to all the hyungs. But for Jungkook, Taehyung became his entire world, the one he cherished above all else.
Over the years, they had all become more than friends—they were family. They had shared their triumphs and hardships, grown together, fallen in love, and eventually married the person they cherished the most. Now, as they sat around the dinner table, enjoying the warmth of their bond, they were no longer just friends navigating the mafia world. They were a family, stronger together than they could have ever been apart.
