Rivermore
"Got you again!" Hawkwing exclaimed as he pinned Pond underneath him.
"Of course you did!" Pond barked back. "You're massive!"
"Massively handsome, you should say," he retorted.
"You narcissist." Pond pawed his gray muzzle playfully and managed to push him off. She walked a little ways away then turned back to face him. "I'll get you this time!" After loping a few steps, she leaped to his place, but he jumped out of the way. She reared to slap him, but familiar howls broke out in the distance near the camp. Landing back on the ground, Pond tried to make out the voices but realized she couldn't. Hawkwing was growling next to her.
"Rivermore," he growled under his breath. Pond perked her ears in confusion before he stepped in front of her. "Stay behind me," he grunted.
"Why? I can fight too," she argued. Hawkwing didn't answer. Instead, he continued to growl in the direction of camp, crouched, ready to pounce. "Hey!" she barked. This is the first battle they'd had since she was allowed out of her den. She did not want to ruin her chance to try out her new skills on the real world rather than in training.
"This isn't a game, Pond," Hawkwing warned. "Stay behind me, and run once you see another wolf." Just then, two beautiful white wolves entered the clearing. "Pond, run!" Hawkwing barked. Still being rebellious, she took one step back and stayed. The enemy eyed Hawkwing over before changing their focus to Pond. As soon as their eyes laid over Pond's white fur, they froze in surprise. "Dang it. They've recognized you." Pond changed her gaze to Hawkwing at that instant.
"Recognized me?" she questioned. What was that supposed to mean? She'd only ever been to Broken Dawn's camp, although it was ever changing location. She'd been born there, or so she'd thought. Once again, Hawkwing didn't answer. Ignoring her only made her more stubborn and more annoyed. "Why won't you answer me?" she growled. Hawkwing stiffened and turned to look back at her, surprise written all over him. His mistake. The enemy had begun to attack him. One bit his scruff, and the other growled.
"You've come far enough into our territory, gray wolf," she declared. She took another glance at Pond. "You, come with me," she demanded. Pond didn't know what to do, but these wolves felt familiar, so she padded over to stand next to the white she-wolf. She nearly forgot about Hawkwing until she heard his snarl. The other white wolf had pinned him down and kept his teeth at his throat by the time she turned her head. "If you don't want his throat torn open, I suggest you do as we say," warned the she-wolf. Pond cowered at her terrible weakness. She understood now why Hawkwing said the things he said and did the things he did. Now, she had no choice but to follow the enemy.
Two other white wolves entered the clearing with the same shocked expression the other's had had. Pond could only cover her furious confusion with her submissive cowering.
"Whoa. Now look what we have here, Wind." The second she-wolf's partner nodded and glanced over at the situation with Hawkwing. "Do you think it's her?" she asked.
"I don't know of any other gray wolf pack with a white she-wolf in this area," he answered as if it was obvious. "Though she has been missing for about a year now."
"If only it were true," the first she-wolf awed. Her partner had finally released Hawkwing by the time she said this, and he didn't dare take on four wolves by himself. He glared at the white wolves before he turned and fled past them, in the direction of the camp. "Now, I think it's about time we went back." The she-wolf made sure to look at Pond while she made that statement. The four wolves surrounded her on all sides, Wind in front, his partner in back, the first she-wolf to Pond's left, and her partner to Pond's right; before they started off towards their own home.
Her first adventure, though it's not like Pond imagined.
