disappear
Nora glanced at her phone again, frowning. It had been over a day since she last heard from Claire, which was unusual.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
(calling Claire)
The phone rang once before going straight to voicemail.
(The number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.)
Nora Sullivan( fl )
She’s probably just busy.
A few hours later, Nora tried calling again. Still no answer. Now she was genuinely worried.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
( dialed the number of one of Claire’s colleagues)
“Hello?” The voice on the other end sounded tired.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
Hey, it’s Nora. Have you seen Claire? I’ve been trying to reach her, but her phone’s off.
“Claire? She... didn’t tell you? She resigned two days ago. We were all surprised. She didn’t even say goodbye.”
Nora Sullivan( fl )
( heart skipped a beat)
Nora Sullivan( fl )
What? No, she didn’t tell me anything... Thanks for letting me know.
Claire would never leave without telling her. Something was definitely wrong. Grabbing her coat and keys, Nora rushed to Claire’s apartment, her worry mounting with every step.
When she arrived, she rang the doorbell several times, waiting anxiously. But the apartment remained silent.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
Claire?
(knocking on the door)
Her hands trembled as she pulled out the spare key Claire had given her for emergencies. She unlocked the door and slowly pushed it open. The apartment was eerily quiet.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
Claire? Are you here?
Nora’s voice echoed through the empty space. She stepped inside, her eyes scanning the room. Everything seemed... off.
Nora checked the living room first, her footsteps quickening with each passing moment. She called out Claire’s name again and again, but there was no response. Panic began to set in.
She walked into the kitchen, only to find it strangely bare. The cupboards were open, revealing empty shelves
Nora Sullivan( fl )
What the hell… 😧
She hurried to the hallway, glancing at the walls where Claire used to hang photos of her family and of the two of them together. But the frames were gone.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
No, no, no 😟
Nora Sullivan( fl )
( rushing to the bedroom)
She threw open the closet doors, hoping to see Claire’s clothes neatly hung. But the closet was empty.
Nora’s breath quickened. She bolted back to the living room, searching for anything, any clue that would tell her where Claire had gone. But all she found was silence and emptiness.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
( dialing Claire’s number again, her hands shaking)
Nora Sullivan( fl )
Come on, Claire, pick up, please! 🥺
But the line went straight to voicemail again.
Nora hung up, tears welling in her eyes. She felt a wave of helplessness wash over her.
Nora Sullivan( fl )
What if something had happened to Claire? What if she was in danger? 😟
Desperation clawed at her chest as she remembered the boxes Claire had left at her café a few days ago. Maybe there was something there—some clue that could tell her what was going on.
She bolted out of the apartment, nearly tripping over her own feet in her rush. She had to find out where Claire had gone.
