Ivy always dreamed of attending a ball like this. The grand chandelier, the swirling gowns, the music that seemed to transport her to another world. But as she descended the staircase, her heart sank. She was alone. Her parents had passed away, and her guardian while kind, was not exactly the social type.
As she entered the ballroom, Ivy felt like a small boat adrift in a stormy sea. The crowd seemed to close in around her, the music and laughter a cacophony that made her head spin. She had hoped to find someone, anyone, to share this experience with. But now, it seemed like that was a foolish dream.
Just as Ivy was starting to lose hope, she was him. A figure, tall and imposing, stating at the edge of the room. His eyes seemed to bore into her very sole, and Ivy felt a shiver run down her spine. But when she looked again,he was gone.
